Sorry not so much subject matter but I thought this photo was amazing and just wondered what an earlier Earth must have looked like with many active volcanoes and much electrical actions in the atmosphere ? Picked up from my twitter feed.

Reality is more amazing than fiction!

Looks like something straight from a DC Movie!

OK, super cool image. It looks to be a long exposure, to "collect" all the various lightning bolts in one capture. The stars streaks give it away.

But my concern is what happened to the last post saying this is from 2015? 5 minutes ago IT WAS HERE right where my post now lives....It is gone, like gone, gone. How do posts disappear without a marker for cause of removal? This phenomenon has been bugging me here at ATS. I know you can delete the contents out but the post "frame" remains and an edited message. What kind of wizardry is this?

ETA Now that i think about this. There were two posts that disappeared, the other one stated that the ash clouds promote lightning(paraphrasing and true). Can the original posters of these 2 posts chime in and verify?

Very pretty picture. That is better than a fireworks display by a longshot.

Wow, electrons can make the most incredible patterns. Looks like the damn Matrix!

I find the physics behind lightning fascinating, the visual is a perk.

Had meant to add that if you click the twit link above then click on the pic you get a bigger image ?
I used the windows snipping tool to cut out a troubled face within the image ?

en.wikipedia.org... ( Pareidolia )

The word is derived from the Greek words para (παρά, "beside, alongside, instead [of]", in this context meaning something faulty or wrong) and the noun eidōlon (εἴδωλον "image, form, shape", the diminutive of eidos).
