Anything by Koontz or King...
Most H.P. Lovecraft
J.K. Rawlings (Harry Potter series...hyped I know, but excellent books)
Poe (right there with all of ya)
Anne McCaffrey (Dragons of Pern)
Tolkien
Aasimov
Bradbury
Anne Rice (except when it's a bit too homo, i.e. Armand)

Animal Farm (timeless, and considering today, rather ominous)
Seuss and Shel Silverstein (warp your kids forever, hehe...)

EDIT: Oh, and ANY Star Wars novels, despite the author...

and R.A. Salvatore...

From "A tale of two cities"

IT WAS the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way

How relevant does that sound?

Janet and John Book 1 - for me.

I can honestly say that, to me it seems that I've got so many favourites, the book I've got the highest regard for, is the first book that I can remember which helped to teach me to read.
