I really don't know why they would choose to strike for only one month. Others are calling for a longer one, which could have some adverse effects on the industry. But, a month isn't long enough to cause anything really (I don't think)

Most people will just turn to other forms of entertainment I would imagine... that's what humans do, they adapt. So, I really don't understand how this would have any impact on anything other than the industry they, themselves, make money in..

Protest all ya want.. I get it..but this type of protest doesn't make sense to me is all ...

First it was the "fake news" meme that backfired on them (tptb) now it seems that the other source for fake this and that is crying out and it could backfire in a even bigger way . Just to throw a deeper side to Hollywood in the thread I leave you with Jay Dyer

If they went on a month long strike wouldn't Trump go on a six week strike just to show whatever they can do he can do better?

You do realize that if SAG/AFTRA strikes, IATSE will follow suit. That means no NFL, wrasslin, ESPN, or NASCAR.

I work for both. Union proud, Union strong.

but there will be no strike. Simply to much money being made and blessed to get my slice of the pie.

Boycott what offends you. I'm boycotting twitter....

You're correct... there would be no "strike" per se.

Not a legitimate one anyways.

The unions wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole.

This would be nothing but a silly political protest, which has zero to do with union/worker affairs directly (ie: contract negotiations, etc)... which means this "strike" would not be legit/legal with regards to the above mentioned unions.

There's no way in hell the union treasuries would be willing to fork out strike pay to its members over a completely unrelated political protest/hissy fit.

And with no strike pay, I don't see a whole hell of a lot of the average joe union members (non-wealthy actors) willing to walk off the job, risking their contract agreements and their paycheques... and more importantly, maybe even their jobs... over non-related politics.

Not gonna happen.

If some of these wealthy thesbians want to boycott, then by all means, have at it. But if they try to drag the unions into this... they're in for a rude awakening.

Contract lawyers would have a heyday with this thing.

Just my $.02

Let them go.
Maybe if they shut down Hollywood, the public will start coming out of their hypnotic state and start noticing reality again.

Indeed and it would turbo charge the independent film industry!

Please Hollywood, shut yourselves down... we're all for it.

Now if the porn industry went on strike heads would roll.

Hollyweirdos are like team-Obamillary - a monumental waste of space that very few on the planet actually take seriously. They are pretty much a perfect snapshot of evetything wrong with the world and it's instances such as this that I wish they didn't always speak sh!t because it'd be awesome if they actually followed through on their butthurt laughable threat.

I think this is a hoax. I can't find any other sources other than far-right wing blog "news" sites.

Does anyone have a link to any of the celebrities involved actually speaking on this, or any tweets from any of them about it, or a website for this group "Refuse Racism" that talks about a call for an industry-wide strike, or anything other than a lot of right wingers screaming about it?

Reading stuff like this kinda makes me glad Trump was elected. Now , if everyone were as good as their word all the trash in the US would take itself out. One way or another

Is there a way to HIDE threads on ATS? When this HOLLYWOODY strike, slowdown, or whatever the phuck it is, gets started, I don't want to see any of the updates, progress, comments related to it. I don't even want to see the thread title marching up and down the thread listing on my PC.

Or even better, lets BAN all talk of the Celebrity Strike, as ATS has done with other obscene topics, like the Podesta Pizza Porn Ring.
