I guess you're ignoring the fact that most metal bands are either christian or spiritual in some way. Most that I listen to talk about the lies of religion, real spiritual truths, human nature, and generally growing as a person. They don't even believe in a "Satan". Is there some bands that are satanic? Of course but to paint all metal as satanic is just idiotic.

Here is one of my favorites. Not sure if you would call it "Death Metal" but most people that hear me listening to it say something along those lines as soon as they hear some screaming.

What is this 1980's Satanic Panic all over again? It's performance art. I'm not particularly into Death Metal but to each his own. Off to play some D&D with Beelzebub. Later.

Except that gangster rap actually is a very important reflection of how this country has treated the black community since the get-go. And despite the cherrypicked lyrics there is a whole lot of smarts and introspection in there as well. Death Metal is more like D&D cosplay stuff (and Satan isn't real, so whatever). But I like both, so there's that.

I see the rap music industry as it has mostly played out in practice as a continuance of said oppression. Targeting them with hyper-masculine egotism, coupled with rampant consumerism, whereby to maintain self-esteem they need to have gold chains and dayton rims and go around as womanizers. Since there's no 'money in the hood' per se, it generally requires a life of crime to be able to afford all the excess bling bling road to nowhere (DONT pay off a house, WASTE your LOOT on rims and custom paint for your ride). Gotta have all that bling, hey why not pimp some hoes and sling some dope?

Any chance you'll be seeing them in NYC? I'm considering it. It'd be nice to hear "Life Eternal", my current favorite song by them. Saw them live about a year ago with Watain.

So this thread has gone from "Death Metal is Satanic" to listing tour dates... WAS the OP trying reverse psychology? What sorcery is this????

I have lots of opinions on the rap industry and how it actually plays back into the self-oppression of the ghettos.

And lets be totally honest, that's exactly what it is, self-oppression.

As for the OP.

Death Metal itself is not satanic. The people making the style of music that claim to be satanist and make satanic music would make the music satanic, even if it's country.

That would be something. Satanist Country Music.

I lol'd. Your "knowledge" and generalization of Death Metal is laughable at best. You shot yourself in the foot attempting to "explain away" Death Metal. I've been listening to Metal (and particularly Death Metal) for over 25 years now. NEWSFLASH: Not all Death Metal is centered around the Biblical "Satan," just like not all Rap/Hip-Hop is centered around drive-bys and murdering others. There's literally hundreds and hundreds of Metal bands that AREN'T "Satanic." Try to be less ignorant on a genre of music that you CLEARLY are illiterate on. Seriously. If you believe Satan is real, guess where he'd be centered? In politics. Good day sir.

Death Metal can be happy and wholesome and make little children smile.
Here is how you do it.

Every so often some-one silly comes along. They said the same about the Blues when it first became popular. then Rock and Roll, then heavy rock, then punk etc. etc. etc. If you really want a satanic band there is always Disaster Area they blow up planets.

So, I listened, and often still do, to Slayer, SoD, Deicide, Kind Diamond, Dayglo Abortions, plys many lighter bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest and many others.

And I'm not satanic. I've never slaughtered anyone in the name of any fictional deity. Or an animal for that matter.

Hmm. I think the only logical and rational explanation is that I'm the next messiah.

Cthulhu be with you.

If Death Metal is Satanic. . . . .

What music is Angelic?

I imagine this is what we will all be singing in heaven

That would certainly prove the existence of Satan, but totally disprove God, because no benevolent being would torment people for an eternity with Hanson.

Still to this day i haven't sacrificed anybody to Satan, and yes i still have some slayer on my playlist.

I love Nine Inch Nails, especially while I'm carving up babies to roast on my portable hellfire. If I haven't sacrificed at least 3 babies by lunchtime then I'm having a bad day.

Truth is, more evil has been done by the so-called God worshippers, than by those "evil" ones who worship Satan.

Poetry at its' finest....

"The Moon, she hangs like a cruel portrait
Soft winds whisper the bidding of trees
As this tragedy starts with a shattered glass heart
And the Midnightmare trampling of dreams
But oh, no tears please
Fear and pain may accompany Death
But it is desire that shepherds it's certainty
As We shall see..."

She was divinity's creature
That kissed the cold mirrors
A Queen of Snows
Far beyond compare
Lips attuned to symmetry
Sought Her everywhere
Dark liqoured eyes
An Arabian nightmare...

She shone on watercolours
Of my pondlife as pearl
Until those who couldn't have Her
Cut Her free of this World

That fateful Eve when...
The trees stank of sunset and camphor
Their lanterns chased phantoms and threw
An inquisitive glance, like the shadows they cast
On my love picking rue by the light of the moon

Putting reason to flight
Or to death as their way
They crept through woods mesmerized
By the taffeta Ley
Of Her hips that held sway
Over all they surveyed
Save a mist on the rise
(A deadly blessing to hide)
Her ghost in the fog

They raped left...
(Five men of God)
...Her ghost in the fog

Dawn discovered Her there
Beneath the Cedar's stare
Silk dress torn, Her raven hair
Flown to gown Her beauty bared
Was starred with frost, I knew Her lost
I wept 'til tears crept back to prayer

She'd sworn Me vows in fragrant blood
"Never to part
Lest jealous Heaven stole our hearts"

Then this I screamed:
"Come back to Me for
I was born in love with thee
So why should fate stand in between?"

And as I drowned Her gentle curves
With dreams unsaid and final words
I espied a gleam trodden to earth
The Church bell tower key...

The village mourned her by the by
For She'd been a witch
Their Men had longed to try
And I broke under Christ seeking guilty signs
My tortured soul on ice

A Queen of snow
Far beyond compare
Lips attuned to symmetry
Sought Her everywhere
Trappistine eyes
An Arabian nightmare...

She was Ersulie possessed
Of a milky white skin
My porcelain Yin
A graceful Angel of Sin

And so for Her...
The breeze stank of sunset and camphor
My lantern chased Her phantom and blew
Their Chapel ablaze and all locked in to a pain
Best reserved for judgement that their bible construed...

Putting reason to flight
Or to flame unashamed
I swept form cries
Mesmerized
By the taffeta Ley
Or Her hips that held sway
Over all those at bay
Save a mist on the rise
A final blessing to hide
Her ghost in the fog

And I embraced
Where lovers rot...
Her ghost in the fog

Her ghost in the fog
