Trudeau, facing domestic pressures, scraps Davos trip
www.theglobeandmail.com...

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, facing negative headlines over party fundraising and his winter holiday with the Aga Khan, on Friday pulled out of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in favour of meeting ordinary citizens.

Trudeau, who never misses a chance to sell Canada as a destination for foreign investment, had planned to attend the annual mid-January meeting of billionaires, investors, celebrities and politicians.

Mr. JT as most Canadians know is a total proponent of helping immigrants come to Canada that he is also willing to sell Canada to the World market while bringing the standards of Canadian living down.

With the takeover of Trump in the White House, this will not bode well the a new security measures law as well as trade with the US under Trump regime. I am glad Trudeau is being dragged back to Canada as so far has nothing to help out the economy except double its national debt in the 1 year he has served term thus far...and soon to be more.

But this week, Trudeau came under fire for accepting an invitation to join the Aga Khan at the wealthy religious leader’s private Bahamian island...on Bell Island.

The Aga Khan is the hereditary spiritual leader of the world’s approximately 15 million Ismaili Muslims and a renowned philanthropist.

Ahmad notes that the Aga Khan and Trudeau “have been close family friends for many years.”

As required for security purposes, Trudeau and his family flew to Nassau on a government Challenger jet

As for a vacation? Really...there was nothing holidays about this. This has EVERYTHING to do with learning how to integrate Muslim refugees into Canada (over 30,000 so far) because of all of them, not one single refugee was hired in the 1 year stay in Canada so far. There is something wrong with the ideology of the PM and the views employers have currently on the immigration status.

He says Trudeau will reimburse the cost of the airfare for himself and his family to and from Nassau.

Tax payers should not be burdened on paying for vacation of the PM. This was totally unjust and he very well should be paying it all back. What is this guy thinking??? Canadians are stupid or what?

Trudeau spokesman Cameron Ahmad said the prime minister would...hold a series of town halls to ensure he stayed connected to Canadians...[and also said that] “This tour will provide many great opportunities to engage directly with Canadians...forum is a prime opportunity to highlight Canada’s strength as a place to invest, grow, and establish new business opportunities ...

Once again this is another view for many Canadians about JT's willingness to sell of Canada to foreigners to take advantage of many of Canada's blue and white collar workers. Rather than finding ways of increasing GDP and GNP through increasing employment and helping families who have long lived here as citizens establish small businesses and allowing them to invest in their communities, just shows how the PM's mind is brainwashed by globalization under the influence of the powerful elites of the world.

Lol. what?

Syrian refugees in Canada...

Much of the worry around the one-year mark centers around finding jobs, said Sam Jisri of Syrian Active Volunteers, an Ontario group launched to help Syrian refugees settle into their new lives in Canada. While more than half of the privately sponsored Syrians who arrived in the past year have found employment – working in grocery stores, coffee shops or launching their own small businesses – data collected by the federal government suggest the employment rate among government-assisted refugees hovers around 12%.

Although far from ideal, so far our new Canadians have been settling fairly well, with very few incidents.

Edit to correct terminology.

So it would appear to have been created under thin air...or indeed a political scheme? I wouldn't think so but apparently he is willing to do what he wants or is being told but someone outside Canada what to do.

I often think what his meetings with Obama were about...makes you say "hmmmmmm"

A refugee who works for only one day in their stay is considered "employed". PRIVATELY sponsored refugees work for those private sponsors. How money gets shuffled around is private...but as long as a refugee works for 1 day and it is declared they worked that one day before being let go...they are considered employed.

Fact is we all know how data is skewed to paint a pretty picture. Try reading something far from bull**** MSM news reports.

So your statistic reveals only 0.00857% of employment of refugees. Must be some really small wages and government benefits to keep them hey?

No, my anecdotal, backed by the governments statistics have a shade over 50% currently employed.

1 is payed not much above min, but she is still in the same position she was hired at (janitorial). The other two have moved to different positions, that suited their skill sets (1 in QC, 1 in drafting), and are paid on par with their Canadian counterparts. All 3 were private sponsors that happened to attend a mosque that existing employees attend.

SO explain to me why JT was hurriedly ushered back to Canada under pressure NOT to attend the visit to the island? Surely it wasn't JUST about visiting a "close friend." That is the main topic at hand for discussion here.

Ethics and conflict of interest issues abound. Not only is Aga Khan a 'personal family friend' of the Trudeau's, his Aga Khan Development Network receives a substantial amount of Canada's foreign aid.

All around, it was a pretty major gaffe on Trudeau's part to even think about vacationing there. There was no way the optics would ever be good.

He needs to show solidarity with traditional non neocon Canada. Us. And our problems are housing issues with extremely high costs and scarcity amounts.

And he needs to deal with this ASAP, that everyone has land and homes, that there are no homeless, that students, and children leaving the ministry in every province have basic support, income and homes, that there are decent places that are affordable for all people, even those on support, or old age, or part time jobs, AND that there are landlords who rent to you.

In BC, where young adults can't get assistance unless they've worked for 2 years, and landlords won't even rent to young adults at all, they have situations where a majority of kids leaving the ministry, after turning of age, are suddenly homeless. The vast majority of teens, ie 19, are being moved into tent cities and like a girl recently, died in Surrey's tent city.

THIS IS NOT WHAT OUR COUNTRY IS ABOUT AT ALL PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because you can't have homeless in Canada and even those toeing in on middle class, don't want to pay 1000 dollars for apartments, 1400 or more, for townhouses, and 2200 for houses, all across the province. Even in Smithers BC.

They would never be able to save for their own homes.

Nor should the cost of a home be over 400 000.

There has to be low income housing in abundance, and no one is ever turned down ever.

THAT AND THAT ALONE IS THE NUMBER 1 PROBLEM HE MUST SOLVE PRONTO!

The Islam thing, most of us are not in support of.

Maybe the less than stellar comments on MSN articles about his performance were noted by his handlers. It appears he likes to be everywhere other than in Canada ,writing out checks to usually UN related projects I think he will be dystroyed missing all the selfie opportunities with the worlds elite at Davos. Frankly the thought of him being "dragged back to Canada" dosn't fill me with any hope anyways.

It is a built in problem that I cannot accept was just overlooked. Even the simplest project or plan starts with, "how many, how much, and where do you put it.

Those making the decisions to bring in refugees, were well aware of the limitations and the lack of available benefits for the their own citizens. To bring in refugees with plans to house, feed, support, and educate them, while ignoring those same needs in their own citizens, is just setting up a powder keg. What do they think is going to happen?

I think he should meet Aga Khan. He's the sort of Muslim who'd be executed for heresy in Saudi Arabia.
