Liberalism is a mental disorder and it has infected our nation, look at the Democrat controlled inner cities, they are shambles. Detroit is a wasteland, Chicago resembles a third world country with its' level of violence.

The left will boast at how Progressive Socialism is a superior system, how Capitalism is unfair and oppressive. We would not be living in an age with our current levels of technology and comfort, without Capitalism. Socialism is the death of civilization, collapse does not occur overnight it becomes the slow rot of death.

Let me clue you in to a few things. Violent crime and property crime rates have been going down nationally and not just for years but decades. There are some very specific factors behind the collapse of rust belt cities like Detroit.

Detroit grew around jobs in industries that no longer support those jobs. The reason that those jobs don't exist isn't "progressive socialism" (whatever the hell that means) but rather successful free market capitalism. Capitalism *is* great at what capitalism does. Replacing costly, unreliable and error prone human labor with automation is exactly the sort of thing that makes manufacturers more competitive.

There's nothing more capitalist than offshoring jobs to exploit the cheap labor provided by people who will work for a fraction of the money of first world workers in conditions first world workers would consider hellish.

Our schools need to be reformed by teaching civics, and non-revisionist American and World history.

You may be right because apparently you've gotten a really piss poor education in both history and economics.

Yes, the rust belt is a direct result of rampant Capitalism gone rogue. At some point our elected officials sold out and approved NAFTA and other offshore trade policies that resulted in the loss of middle class jobs and the beginning of a downward slide into poverty for millions of Americans. My premise is that it has been a policy of our Presidents since H.W. Bush to systematically dismantle America. Globalism is is not a new theory and there is ample proof to support this theory....I can Google it for you? Thank you for your concern regarding my education, I was fortunate to receive it during the late 1960's and from that perspective what passes for education today would leave you breathless.

William has it right.... it's obvious to most others that we've all been pushed into a globalist agenda at the expense of many groups with liberal strength. Younger generations are easily and openly manipulated now and it's unfortunate that they express their frustrations by blaming other things. The Internet has empowered fools into believing that they can see the wisdom in all things outside of their own expertise. Everyone has become so trusting in technology that they've willingly given up their better judgment and connection with humanity. Now everyone wants to blame the media for fake news rather than put blame on their own poorly developed judgment. I appreciate your solutions to identified issues William. Honestly, most on this site come here to vent or stack up the issues rather than provide solution. If only all of you would realize that you are the power which creates the changes everyone needs. Just sharing these thoughts on other more public sites would create change. As a member of the government intel community for 15 years, I encourage all of you to get your voice out there... don't be afraid of displaying your patriotism in all forms. IT'S YOUR COUNTRY, TAKE IT BACK.

Sorry you feel the thread is trash but sometimes you need to adopt extreme measures to get peoples attention if you want them to hear your message...hearing is one thing and understanding is another however.

Lol. This is your arrogance speaking. Discussion doesn't start by first putting one side on the defensive no matter how you want to slice. Here we are talking about your attitude versus your actual points you bring up. Also I know what I'm talking about. I've written plenty of threads like this. I wouldn't be telling you this if I haven't seen how these go. You just end up wasting tons of pages defending your name calling instead of actually discussing your points with any merit.

My point was that maybe you should show a bit of humility if you want the other side to approach you civilly, but I guess that is too much for your arrogance.

Isn't it funny how Trump just stated he wants both sides to work together on healthcare and since then there has been an influx of threads where Trump supporters insult Liberals? And they say the Left are the divisive and petty ones.

Just as funny as Melania coming out saying that she wants to adopt a cause against cyber bullying as her First Lady cause.

Though in all honestly your correlation is false. I've been seeing these pedantic threads since he was elected.

Arrogance? I made a statement, a manifesto if you wish, of my belief why our country is tottering on the brink of being a third world nation. I made the statement as well as I could and stand by it because it is my best understanding of how we reached our current state. IMO the perfect example of arrogance would be your fearless leader who has resurrected the racial divide, demonize police and rules as an autocrat while still attempting to further gut the American economy with another trade agreement....and we sit and drool while watching porn on a computer.

My small and insignificant contribution to the great divide that has occurred in this country can't be laid at my door, it belongs to those who had power for eight years. I am so tired of having to tiptoe around all the PC rules we are saddled with and I can't wait until Trump cleans out all the "pajama boys" currently attempting to guide our nation. I guess if you were looking for someone to play nice you wouldn't come to the Mud Pit....now would you?

I live in the vast red sea of flyover country and we just are more independent and less dependent on government.

For someone so concerned with facts, you sure eschew them when convenient.

I am curious to one thing

Our schools need to be reformed by teaching civics, and non-revisionist American and World history

Of what do you consider non-revisionist American and World history?
Like Columbus discovered America not rediscovered an already populated country?

Are you saying that sort of teaching needs to be ended? I will await your response.

And now we get to another proof of my point. Instead of graciously accepting that MAYBE you came off a bit condescending and arrogant in your OP you double down and get angry at me for harping on it. That isn't the humility I was talking about.

I didn't write your OP. You did. You are the one who put it in the Mud Pit. You are also the one who wrote it under a false pretense of civility and coming together. YOU set the tone of your OP with your opening post, not the people who follow up. Yes its in the Mud Pit, but if you cared about civility you didn't have to stoop to throwing mud in your first post and before any Democrats/liberals even got a chance to defend themselves.

In fact if this was just another Mud Pit thread of arrogance and talking down without pitching the civility angle, I probably would have skipped it altogether as not worth my time. I just find your hypocrisy and arrogance that we should respect you after you don't respect us outstandingly insulting. Call me triggered if you want, but this is the kind of stuff that is bringing down quality of discussions on ATS.

Maybe when you decide to cut your pride out you'll see what I'm saying, but I doubt it. I haven't seen a conservative concede a point in a MANY months on ATS.

So now you want to tell me what my original post was about...I didn't realize it was about civility? I thought my post very clearly made the point that I believe the Globalist agenda that is being introduced in our schools and through slanted stories by the MSM was tearing our country apart by factionalizing people. I attempt to be civil in my discourse and respect others in my replies....but don't try to put words in my mouth. I agree you are triggered and need to stop reading, your insistence that I be humble and less arrogant is becoming pathological. If it helps you to accept the reality of what I am trying to communicate I will work on my attitude.....just for you.

Fantastic...I know you weren't directing that at me but snarky and patronizing replies really do add to your credibility.

I have a sneaking suspicion that eventually you will push the wrong buttons and be only a vague memory. I know you are feeling your oats
with the Trump victory and a little gloating is understandable but insulting the ATS membership even in the mudpit gets noticed.

a quality education complete with lessons in traditional moral values and critical thinking

Wait- who says that everything traditional is better than everything else, and how is it not tyranny to push that on everyone else?

And conservatives don't like thinking, so critical thinking is out.
