Called it! You asked for a source and now you just flatly deny it when presented. Way to keep the partisan shtick going! Kudos! Does the sand ever scratch your ears with your head in it all the time?

So have fun blaming Obama for your increased premiums for the next 4-8 years. Ignoring the fact that it seems like the ACA will be repealed in Trump's first 100 days.

I hope like hell that ACA is repealed.

And if you know the future so well, give me tomorrows lottery numbers.

Totally! We need to return to those out of control yearly increases in health insurance premiums!

I know you'll tell me this source doesn't count but here you go:
The truth about healthcare premiums: They'd be a lot higher without Obamacare

An important new study by Loren Adler and Paul Ginsburg of the Brookings Institution adds another key factor. Their finding is that, even with an expected spike in premium increases for 2017, rates are still lower than they would have been without the Affordable Care Act. They calculate that premiums would have to rise by more than 44% for next year to approach where they would have been given the pre-ACA trend line. In fact, Adler and Ginsburg are being conservative — they calculated a rise of 5% a year from pre-ACA rates, even though the actual annual increases ranged from 11.7% in 2010 to 7-8% in 2011-2013.

This is just the type of misdirection I always expect from government cheerleaders. Obamacare is broken down into three plans, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The more you can pay the higher your coverage. The problem lies in the fact that people are "required" to purchase insurance or pay a fine. The subsidized Bronze plan designed as low-income family insurance is unaffordable if you go to use it..Families enrolled in bronze plans will have average deductibles of $12,393, according to the study by the consumer insurance comparison site HealthPocket. ... HealthPocket also found that that average premiums, or monthly payments, for bronze plans nationwide will increase 21 percent ...How is this the affordable care act.....$12,393.00 deductible!

Y'know, I know plenty people who say the same thing about conservatives. Me, I see this as a problem. You can't have any kind of meaningful discussion when you believe anybody who thinks differently than you is crazy and stupid.

But whatever. I'm not going to change anybody's worldview, so have fun.

It would be refreshing to hear both sides of an argument or news story without one side acting butt hurt and shutting off because they were triggered.

Yeah, bringing out all the rights catch phrases and cliches is the perfect way to seem legitimate and knowledgeable and get credibility.

You might as well bring out the "snowflake" libtard, commie hippie, safeplaces, BLM thug, and the rest of the conservative rhetoric we hear in the forums; you have a great start.

government cheerleaders.

Here's what I'm talking about. You aren't for embracing civility just to insult us.

PS: I know what the problems with Obamacare are, but that has nothing to do DBCowboy being wrong about the rate hikes being worse under Obamacare than without it.

Well it would be nice if the other side didn't just start off by straight up insulting their intelligence before saying anything else. Nothing makes people hunker down on their sides faster than unprovoked attacks. You make all these claims towards civility and coming together yet your OP is just a straight up partisan trash attack thread. I didn't even read much of it because I'm disgusted by your attitude.

ETA: If you have to include a goddamn "trigger warning" at the beginning of your thread then you are off to a wrong start with your approach.

I'm sorry did you think that trigger warning was for you? That was for the Globalists, Socialists and Progressives.....

Kind of ironic that you accuse me of hate speech after that little tirade.......

First off. I DO consider myself a Socialist or Progressive. Second off. Even if it didn't apply to me, it is still insulting and shows your true colors. You aren't looking for unity. You are just wanting to insult until everyone agrees with you. This thread is trash. Even if you made a good point in your wall of text OP I don't care because your attitude shows that you don't care about my opinion.

It's always been the case that the cheaper the plan the higher the deductible. That isn't something that started with the ACA. So if you're trying to use that as an example of how the ACA has failed then you're wrong. The only other thing I can think of that you're trying to say is that the government should force the insurance companies to have those able to afford more expensive plans subsidize the deductible cost of those capable of paying less. Considering that the Right would consider this wealth distribution/socialism/class warfare I can;t imagine that's what your argument is about.

I guess there is one other option. You have no idea how economics/capitalism actually works and believe the insurance companies should just lower the deductibles for cheaper plans out of the goodness of their hearts.

I found a Forbes article that refutes the claims about the rise in premiums.

But I really don't think it would make a difference if I posted it.

There will be those that want socialized medicine and those that won't.

Kind of goes to the OP's general tone that there is a divide and a push for globalism despite the facts.

Not true, I really do care about your opinion and the opinion of half of the country regarding the state of our nation. I noted you were from the East coast and it explains a lot about your views...I live in the vast red sea of flyover country and we just are more independent and less dependent on government. I have been called deplorable, fascist, homophobe, racist and dozens of other names because I speak a very unpopular form of the truth. Sorry you feel the thread is trash but sometimes you need to adopt extreme measures to get peoples attention if you want them to hear your message...hearing is one thing and understanding is another however.

Thank you for the link, it was an interesting read and the conclusions were as anticipated. I think you have the beginnings of a new post on Healthcare....I wonder sometimes how these threads evolve and devolve...we weren't even discussing Healthcare until someone tried to justify a position by showing how Obama saved us....

I live in the NE, don't judge all of us! Hell, Pennsylvania finally broke ranks and helped elect Trump! As dismal as things appear, I still have a tiny bit of hope. But I am prepared either way........

Since Obamacare was passed in 2010 but didn't go into significant effect until 2013 If I recall correctly , we don't have much data to go on those charts.

However just from 2010 to 2011 on the top graft it looks like Obamacare hit the workers pretty good in both premiums and contributions.

It looks like the true winners with Obamacare was the top 3 insurance companies . Who not only saw a 45 degree incline into the black for actual earnings, but projected earnings as well after 2013 when it hit harder.

I know my anecdotal observation with my coverage and payments (which matches all my friends and family members outcome) supports that the true winners are insurance companies.

Our cost of coverage significantly increased along with our deductible while our coverage significantly decreased. Yet many still can't afford healthcare but now have to pay a penalty for not affording it and continue to use the Emergency room as their primary doctor.
