Could you or one of your cronies please explain why you want to turn the United States into a Deathstar instead of a shining city on the hill?

Seems like Trump may have US fund border wall in hopes Mexico will repay us in the future (good luck with that). If this is true, you Trump supporters should be pissed.

I thought Mexico already paid for the wall.

The 20 million undocumented Mexicans working inside the USA, for "lower wages" than Americans would accept, resulted in a huge "cash gain" for the US that should pay for the wall many times over and then some.

Here's the calculation.

Say minimum wage in the US is = $X/hr
The Mexican accepts less, say = $Y/hr, where Y < X
Then the US gained Extra Profit = $(X-Y)/hr
Suppose the Mexicans work a regular 40 hr week, that's $(X-Y) x 40 per week
With 52 weeks in a year thats = $(X-Y) x 40 x 52 per year
With 20 million workers = $(X-Y) x 40 x 52 x 20,000,000
How many years have the undocumented been here doing this work? Say = Z years.

Then the total cash saved by the US employers was = $(X-Y) x Z x 41,600,000,000.

The mexicans have already contributed 41.6 BILLION PER YEAR PER LABOR DOLLAR DISCOUNT on the wage.

You could build a wall around the entire USA for that money.

So, Mexico paid alright.

And they are still paying.

Machines cant be bribed,or reasoned with can they? But i did say drone operators could do the job too. see creating long lasting jobs already. And its still s shining city on the hill...its just well defended. Regan would like the wall idea because it wouldnt had been the same as the berlin wall. this one is to make it so they have to go the legal way in.

And I wish they were my cronies. Least then id be making money.

What exactly is the point of a wall? Mexicans have ladders... And shovels.. Just seems so pointless.

Not to mention boats and planes and there's already a fence there, which I'm pretty sure the same methods of beating apply to

Mexico can pay in the back end through Tariffs. There are many ways to do it. Don't limit your mind.

Defended? Defended from what? Poor people looking for jobs? Actual terrorists enter this country legally, flying into airports with student visas.

A wall is a wall. Everyone knew the Berlin Wall was to prevent NATO spies and saboteurs from entering the Democratic Republic. The spies just built tunnels from the occupied West Zone to the liberated East Zone, right?

And then they can make that back by collecting tariffs on United States goods entering Mexico. It's called a "trade war," and it's usually the first step towards a shooting war.

I dont care about mexican Illegal immigrants or any immigrants who do not come here legally. If you cannot follow that law why should we expect them to follow any laws?

Oh but they just poor and want to live... Well then do it in their own country. i despised having to sacrifice part of my money each pay check towards anyone who was gaming the system. Sure we are to help our fellow man but not to the point of hurting ourselves.

Actually Russia was paranoid and built a wall. the US wall isnt about paranoia though. its about restricting travel by criminals.(yes you are a criminal if you cross illegally)

Undocumented workers on average make well above minimum wage in construction and hospitality industries. Not sure why you think they don't...

The reason people hire them is to avoid health insurance, unemployment insurance, PTO, Workers Comp, regular raises etc. If you are referring to farm workers, they are covered by different laws (like restaurants for example) that allow them to pay by item rather than by time.

A minimum wage salary for a full time worker is about 15k a year, but the average income for an undocumented worker is 36k a year.

Source

The reason you think they make less is because many of them send a large amount of their income back to their country of origin to support their families.

Trump already said how he would get Mexico to pay for the wall:

In the memo, Trump said he would threaten to change a rule under the USA Patriot Act antiterrorism law to cut off a portion of the funds sent to Mexico through money transfers, commonly known as remittances. The threat would be withdrawn if Mexico made “a one-time payment of $5-10 billion” to pay for the border wall, he wrote.

Another way he has said is to work an angle on the trade deficit.

The U.S. goods trade deficit with Mexico was $58 billion in 2015.[/url]

You think the berlin wall was to keep people out? It was absolutely to keep people in, from the outset. If you believe otherwise you fell for the propaganda from East Berlin.

Source

The Eastern Bloc claimed that the Wall was erected to protect its population from fascist elements conspiring to prevent the "will of the people" in building a socialist state in East Germany. In practice, the Wall served to prevent the massive emigration and defection that had marked East Germany and the communist Eastern Bloc during the post-World War II period.

Before the Wall's erection, 3.5 million East Germans circumvented Eastern Bloc emigration restrictions and defected from the GDR, many by crossing over the border from East Berlin into West Berlin; from which they could then travel to West Germany and other Western European countries. Between 1961 and 1989, the Wall prevented almost all such emigration. During this period, around 5,000 people attempted to escape over the Wall, with an estimated death toll ranging from 136 to more than 200 in and around Berlin.

What hand outs are you referring to? Illegal immagants cannot apply for public assistance.

don't be naive - illegals are voting in presidential elections
what do you think is going to stop them from collecting welfare?

Voting doesn't require any proof of citizenship is most states. Getting government aid does. If a non citizen has gained access it's by the same way citizens fraud the system: Using false statements and documents.

Well, ok. The minimum wage example was just chosen for illustration.

The important idea being illustrated is that each undocumented worker produces "a cost savings" to the employer, otherwise the employer wouldn't hire them.

However you determine the cost savings, it's still $41.6 BILLION PER YEAR PER DOLLAR COST SAVED.

That's a tremendous contribution to the economy of the USA.

All the US consumers see this in the lower prices they pay for all the consumer goods and services that are produced with undocumented labor somewhere in the production chain. Even if people are not aware of how things got to be so cheap.

When the undocumented are removed, by The Donald, and sent back to Mexico, prices of everything will rise. Then a better comparison can be made about life under the old economy vs life under the new economy, and people will then know which was better for them.

We never miss something, until it's gone. Those undocumented workers are being taken for granted.

But, the fact that people would want to come here and work for less to make your life better, is a huge positive that goes unnoticed.

Most other nations in the world would kill to have that situation, since people are "migrating out" of those other places.

On a related note, don't forget that cheap offshore labor saves consumers money. All that cheap stuff people buy at Walmart would be 50% more expensive if made in the USA. People need to ask themselves if they would like to pay more for goods made in America (or prices artificially inflated by tariffs on imports) with their income at the same level, or if they would insist on getting paid more to meet the rising cost of living. If they choose the latter, they will be opting for an inflationary spiral: the more they get paid to manufacture goods, the more the goods will cost....
