No worries

If you use firefox and right click on the avi (near the edge), click on view background image you negate the whole invisible avi bit.

A trick I learned from BFFT

Hey NB - here is an attempt... I stole Cody's idea for the sleeping Buddha, added the UFO & stars to the other image you gave us... Lemme know if it works or needs adjusting...

Thx!

Hell Yes! That is fricking awesome! Thank you very much!

Now I've got 2 awesome avatars to switch between.

I can't thank all of you enough. I may have to learn this art so I can contribute in the future.

Thanks to both of you! I admire both of your efforts on this. I will probably sport both for a while because I can't quite decide which I like better!

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you volunteers and your tips and hints! I think I finally figured out my mini profile background issues due to you all! No more repeating images!

Well cool! I like Cody's too, and I'm glad this one works as well.

If ya have any other ideas that need avatars, let us know.

At your service, mate, (as they say)...

If you use the "clear gif" as the Avatar, and the art we gave you as the "mini profile background" it will cover the entire space and not have the black background top and bottom...

Do you know what I mean? I can find better instructions if you need them...'

Ah, but now that I've tried them on I see a sizing issue...both images are getting cut due to the size restriction.

We may have to go for the longer, scrolling avatars? I don't remember how to set a background. I haven't looked at this in years haha.

Here ya go: This is the " clear gif... Trust me, it is there!! Grab it with a right-click to download...

In between the stars... Then upload to ATS. Use it as your Profile and then the new avatar art as the mini profile background...

CLEAR GIF:
************************************

***********************************

Here is a screen grab of the upload choices - use the clear gif on the "person shape" (avatar)

Use the new artwork on the little square shape (mini profile background):

Try it! It's way fun!!

Thanks, I finally got it.

May I request one last adjustment? Can we add a long star field to the bottom of the image to prevent tiling? Or whatever change would create a smooth transition from top to bottom.

Thanks again!!

I really need to learn how to photoshop so I can help out!

Can do. Give me a bit and I'll tack one on...

DOTM or someone else might be able to share how to keep the image from "tiling" -- I am not the one to answer that.

I will give you the star field option so you have that in addition to whatever magic the others know about...

Might be tomorrow before I post it...I appreciate your patience until then!!

Hi AB!

The way to prevent a mini profile background image from repeating on longer posts is to start with a long, transparent image as a baseline (like 187 X 1600) and then pasting the desired image into the top portion.

like this...

Ok. So here is the "star field" one you can use as your mini profile background with the clear gif as the "avatar" - I can add a larger UFO too if you like?

OR - you can do what Zarniwoop said a couple posts back. He posted your avatar with a LONG clear gif which you can grab... Use that instead of the small clear gif I gave you. That will prevent the dreaded "tiling."

Oh good!
. Enjoy!!

Now you've got a couple of new costumes/avatars, and the long clear gif if you need it.

They look good on you!

Ah...well, I would do a tutorial for GIMP but I fear that would fall upon deaf ears round here.

I think most use Photoshop. I'm too cheap for that
