Irish scientists say we've got a new organ in our guts

I'm thinking it may deteriorate rather quickly upon death or why else why this statement:

Treves declared that the mesentery existed only sporadically, in disjointed ribbons, dispersed among the intestines.

Were his cadavers deceased for long lengths of time or held improperly?

Interesting none the less. I wonder why the new interest. It doesn't seem to be a new organ, or even a new discovery, rather a clarified piece of information.

I've had mine all my life, it is already sixty one years old. It isn't new.
