Trump is right. Crimea should be part of Russia.

It's so annoying when people sit around discussing what's best for others, and what the "others" want is not even taken into consideration.

Way to go.

Trump's right. He's smarter than everyione else. Russia should take back the entire Soviet Union. It was theirs afterall. And Alaska while we're at it. That was theirs too. I'm sure helping them get back their rea estate would make Putin happy.

And Mexico take back Texas, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, California? It doesn't work that way. It is right by conquest.

The only place Germany took back in WW2 was Sudetenland. Everywhere else Germany set up a puppet government.

If Russia wants to take America, it wouldn't absorb America but rather set up a puppet government.

Native tongue should have (had) next to zero influence on the Crimea debacle. The fact that residents of Crimea supposedly overwhelmingly wanted to join the Russian federation also shouldn't be the be all and end all of the conversation. The tax dollars of every Ukrainian went into the continued development of Crimea since 1954 so all Ukrainian citizens should have had a say in the matter. And if Crimea went to Russia via a national referendum then negotiations should have been held to compensate Ukrainian tax payers.

So Tump agrees with Catherine the Great doesn't he? Was she that got Russia the access to the Black Sea.

Crimea was neglected by the Kiev government for decades. The people of Crimea never approved of being part of Ukraine. Crimean tatars did not have ethnic rights like they have now.

Ethnic Russians in former Soviet republics are treated like dirt. Ukrainians never cared about Crimea which is the only former part of Ukraine that was majority ethnic Russian. Serves them right to lose Crimea, if only for humanitarian reasons.

Crimea is a done deal for Putin.

The ongoing proxy war in the Donbass should be stopped.

Obama and Kerry should be ashamed of themselves.

The Facist Ukranians were a bad choice.

This is like saying that the US should return all the land it exists on to the natives because we illegally stole it from them in the first place.

Not even. The indigenous people of the Crimean Peninsula, Crimean Tartars, were removed to Uzbekistan (mainly) by Stalin's order in 1944. What the OP clearly wants to ignore is that Russia is a signatory of the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances.

Natives...yea no. Those lands have changed hands lots and lots times. cumans, Romans, Byzantines, Theodoroans(goths, greeks), tatars, khazars, cossacks, russians and lastly Genoan colonies.
One cannot use those new world arguments in the old world.
Yes stalin was a terrible person and they should not have done it. Come back with a different argument.

Legal arguments don't really matter in state vs state conflicts. It's what they agree on and what can be enforced. It'd be nice if they did but nope. This is a geopolitical move by russia for the port. A good move by them.

If china flipped Japan to hate the US the US would likely grab okinowa before either side could blink.

This is a rather weak argument since the USSR no longer exists. Why does their legal decisions/missteps matter today?

Russia is the legal successor to USSR. Going vy your logic, Russia should not have paid any of USSR's debt in the 90's, because the loan agreements are no longer valid. It is your argument that is weak my friend, you can't have it both ways.
