Yes explosions are easily determined. Not quite sure what you mean by explosions from fracking? If you mean earthquakes from fracking then those are just that, earthquakes, regardless of their cause. If you put in a search (I put in 'How seismology polices the test ban treaty') you will get a ton on results including The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty: Technical Issues for the United States and others.

Somewhere I have some information on the difference between earthquake signatures and explosions which I will dig out. *snip*

When explosions rocked Baghdad in 2006, a seismometer was listening

And here is a PDF you can download specifically about the subject:
Some Practical Applications of FORENSIC SEISMOLOGY by J. David Rogers

I think you could have hundreds of earth directed flares and not have an earthquake as long as the fault has relieved its stress, gradually.

Only problem with that is that faults do not release stress gradually. If they did there would be no earthquakes! About the only potential slow relief of stress might be the deep low tremor phenomenon.

In an Electric Universe there is a connection between everything and that faults give off an identifiable signal under stress, as posited by ATS member Russian Scientists, is not denied. On the matter of whether a flare can trigger a quake I think the jury is still out.

Awesome, very helpful, you the man PuterMan.

So, not explosion but whatever mechanism that sets off the many 1.0 EQs around fracking sites. I was expecting to see similar 1.0 or 2.0 activity where these rockets and bombs hit. But as you said it's a different signature that's why they don't show up on my EQ map.

For what it's worth I consider these thread a great resource. I learn a lot from you guys, but mostly I really appreciate these chances to expand my research. Thanks 👍

The thing that really sets off earthquakes is high pressure injection wells. These are as often as not spend fracking wells, as I understand it, where they pump waste fracking water underground basically to get rid of it so it can seep into the water courses - ok that is not the intention but it what happens.

The difference between a fracking well and a high pressure injection well is really that a fracking well has fracking fluid pumped down it which permeates into the strata and forces out the gas. In theory the pressure drops as the gas escapes. More fracking fluid has to be pumped down to get more gas but at the end of the day, again in theory, the pressure should drop lessening the risk of earthquakes.

In a high pressure injection well there is no outflow, obviously, so the waste fluid is held under pressure. If, as is likely, the well is on or near a fault structure this can lubricate the fault and lead to an injection well caused earthquake.

That is my understanding of it.

I remember that conversation here.

I believe this is the thread I was looking for.

I thought TA had a thread also, but I don't have the time to look this morning.

Hope this helps.
