I think it's time we had a Media Accredidation Company.

This would be a non-partisan company to score news companies.

Kind of like Snopes, only something more sophisticated.

Somebody that rewards accuracy not who is first.

The race to be first has turned the MSM into The National Enquirer.

Except, The National Enquirer has been more accurate than many news outlets.

This "Accredidation" must be so valuable that you won't be taken seriously without it.

This won't be easy. But, something has to be done.

Fake news is taken as fact.

Well, this is my New Year idea. I don't expect anything will be done.

Any ideas, is this even possible ?

Throw money at them. Higher ups say make it accredited.

More fake news.

No way around fake news outside common sense, but that is a rare commodity now days.

BTW Snopes shouldn't be used as a source anymore last I checked.

Common sense? Maybe we need an Accredidation Company to tell us what THAT is.

Sounds good, once you can figure out how to eliminate human greed phase 1 of the project will be complete!

That is a very good idea.

Quite honestly a little baffled about why it's being called "fake news" instead of propaganda?? Isn't most of what we are seeing here misleading for political affect?

Maybe if we could refocus the Media on accuracy.

We could slow down the race to be first.

We need to change it where the payoff is accuracy.

People and companies are being ruined for ratings.

Well, I am looking for a solution before something bad happens.

Our Media is totally out of control..

Won't happen. Be it business or charity. The end game is always money so will always focus on it. IMO atleast.

Would love for this to actually happen, but someone will always have more control than someone else and money will control the sway of opinion.

Don't forget economic effect. Commercialism, adverts, promotional campaigns for products. They go hand in hand with any political propaganda.

If I wanted to distribute fake news, I would create a news-site that debunks and attacks "fake news".

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

But, you are probably correct.

Scholars

Scientists

Keep it in the private sector.

Kind of like the Good Housekeeping Seal.

There have to be who don't view news from a political slant.

When News Organizations use fake news with no facts.

We should hold them to account. There has to be a way.

It has to be an extremely difficult seal to acquire.

It should be equally easy to lose.

My thought is that I don't need some organisation to decide what is real news. I can do that for myself.

I think we need multiple accreditation companies. Competition always results in better consumer products. But how do we accredit the accreditation companies?

With an Accreditation Company Accreditation Company. That is where I'm investing my money!

Simple, you authorise power of authority to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change , from what I'm told they can't be influenced by the money...

How about we let news organisations say what they want? Their punishment for fake news is that people turn away from them. That is precisely what is happening now to the MSM - they are being rejected because of their propaganda.

Unfortunately your wish is getting closer to reality, but instead of the arbiter being non partisan, it will handled by the govt. They will decide.
