Spying on the world, lying to congress, destabilizing other countries, do you honestly believe that, despite the fact you guys are paying their bills, they actually have your welfare at heart?

No.

Not at all.

A direct answer in a manipulated, elitist controlled environment.

How many "private" off the books agencies do you think are monitoring all your www. traffic? Mobile, etc....

An Oligarchy would be remiss not to monitor their herds of sheep.

People are just resources, cash cows, and cannon fodder.

I'm sure there are contract agencies.

Speaking of sheep, I feel like just one of the herd, enjoying my little freedom and grass. . . and for the first time, look at all the barbed wire wondering why we need so much to keep the wolves out. . . it's not like they are using it to keep me in?

Is it?

So now the question is....

Do you think Trump will go up against those entities? I don't...he's so stupid and out of his league it's pathetic.

Why do we need to spy on everyone?

Because "Knowledge is Power".

Those who want to control, need to know things.

Yes! If you think of ATS members as different countries, look at how many hate us, how many blame us for every ill in the world and how many want to see us get taken down a notch or two in global power. I'm hoping the Donald will fix the bloat but in the end, I have no problem with good intel.

Very good question. I never bothered to count the agencies, but since this thread was started I'm inclined to believe there are more than 17.

I don't know.

I think he will. If he keeps his promise to fix the waste in government spending, this is easy picking. Getting a discount on the next Air Force One isn't enough.

The thing is, the 3 letters aren't just your run of the mill bureaucrats. They will operate on purely selfintrest to keep their gigs in operation. If Trump wants to stay healthy he will bend over and take it. They view Trump as just a little Twitterbitch. The MIC calls the shots....
I know the Trump adoration is far reaching but totally unwarranted.

I am the 23'd intelligence agency and Supreme Commander of the Illuminati.
Ask me any question. I don't know nothing.

They aren't all mini-CIA's spying on people. They are more like detectives working cases within their remit For example, the NIS: Naval Intelligence Service. They perform investigative work along side the Military Police. For example, locally they were involved in busting a Command Master Chief who was involved in a child pornography ring. If tere's a drug bust involving Naval personnel, they'll be there.

They are also serve as the point-person for granting security clearances of Navy personnel and contractors when follow-up is needed. I've had several encounters with the NIS as an invetigatee, i.e.: I was the subject of the investigation. Usually they work out of a cramped office with hand-me-down furniture doing mundane work. They work within their own sphere and are not involved n wholesale spying on civilians at all. I'm not claiming all these agencies are like the NIS, but do take this into consideration when you are discussing the proliferation of these many agencies.

I'm guessing some are just assistant spies and others take out the trash and keep the restrooms tidy.

I do wonder why the Department of Energy needs an Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence...

Because the DOE owns, maintains and designs all the nuclear weapons.

...and why the Department of the Treasury needs an Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence. The latter is a very unfortunate name by the way.

To keep track of gubmental level counterfeiting, and manipulation of the US financial markets.

Why do we need 17?

The same reason you need more than one golf club.

They all have different mandates. It overlaps somewhat, but they focus on different aspects of intelligence gathering and followup.

It doesn't work EXACTLY that way, but you do have corporations that the various intelligence agencies contract out to for this sort of thing.

Each agency tends to have a "civilian" organization or two, or twenty that works pretty much just for them, and you also have folk like Raytheon who are your go-to guys for particular sorts of intel gathering.
