A Coast Guard helicopter and ice breaker, along with a Canadian C-130 are searching for a missing Cessna Citation 525 around Lake Erie. The aircraft took off around 11 pm last night from Cleveland, bound for Ohio and disappeared from radar shortly after. There were six people believed on board.

It was a good night for heavy icing conditions. If they went into the water, it doesn't look good.

John T. Fleming, CEO of Superior Beverages, his wife Suzanne, their two sons, a neighbor and neighbor's daughter were on board. His father came forward and said he thinks they went down in the lake.

If they did that's just awful. I wish 2 things in that case

1 that they are all found alive
2 if not that they went as painlessly as possible and with as little fear as possible.

But I don't live in fantasy land so I guess I'll just wish the families the very best.

Water temperature off Cleveland is about 44 degrees F. Over 12 hours, it doesn't look good. Hypothermia would set in at about 30 minutes.

I'm with you, I hope it was quick.

There was snow and 30-40 mph wind gusts at the time. The water was too rough for an overnight boat search, but now it's moving East which will push debris towards shore.

A couple of us were thinking about flying up and helping with the search, but, the weather is borderline for the aircraft that we have.

The aircraft is registered as N614SB. The Coast Guard has suspended the search and turned it over to Cleveland for search and recovery.

We are going up in the morning. Coast Guard cleared us for 8 AM. Two Civil Air Patrol planes and us.

We were only there a couple hours. Freezing rain was icing us up and it wasn't safe. When we stopped for fuel I was able to pull a Viking hat of ice off of the propeller spinner. Visability was awful. Heavy waves for Lake Erie. I'm thinking that plane is intact on the bottom some place. We were in a Cessna 210 with good anti - icing boots and we were still picking up a lot of ice.

Air travel, even in General Aviation is still safer than it's ever been.

Yeah, if conditions were they bad, you're probably right.

Meanwhile the Coast Guard out of Honolulu are searching for a Cessna 172 that went missing off Molokai. Three people were reported on board.

Warmer water. Better chance.

True, but they've been searching all day. They apparently went missing a few miles short of the island this morning.

We called about going up this morning and were told don't bother. They have boats out with towed sonar. It's a recovery mission now.

They still haven't found anything in Hawaii either.
