So, those of you who use snopes as a fact checker would do well NOT to use it at all. So, the website was managed by a married couple with zero experience in journalism, zero experience in investigation. After the founding couple divorced, the remaining founder marries an ex porn star and hires her as a fact checking Admin!

Isn't it interesting how a little money can change a person? According to divorce papers, Snopes co-founder David Mikkelson started taking all sorts of trips around the world to bang whores after that sweet liberal shill money started rolling in. While engaging in this debauchery, Mikkelson wrote off just about everything as a business expense, embezzling a reported $98,000. The Snopes co-founder has since settled down and married a [NSFW] part time porn actress, Snopes.com administrator (spicy!), and sex worker. As in, she has a website devoted to being a whore. Apparently she's a pretty good one despite being "past her time as an adult model." In the same divorce papers, David Mikkelson fires back, claiming his hog of an ex-wife took millions from their joint account and bought property in Las Vegas. No word on who got their obese cat, or if it's still alive.

They are accusing each other of financial impropriety, with Barbara claiming her ex-husband is guilty of 'embezzlement' and suggesting he is attempting a 'boondoggle' to change tax arrangements, while David claims she took millions from their joint accounts and bought property in Las Vegas. So basically, most of you are getting your "fact checks' from non experienced people and a former porn star who is now hired as an admin to...fact check.

This alone, should put snopes on the fake list and no better than those fake news bloggers. Sorry, but snopes is fake, and anyone who gets their facts from this website, now you know where your info comes from. Non experienced people with bias views.

Well, I don't personally lend much credence to Snopes. But I also want to point out that being an ex-porn star doesn't automatically disqualify one from being able to do other things.

So, no I don't go to Snopes to "fact check"

But yes I'd trust an ex porn star doctor as long as the credentials are there.

I know of several lawyers who put themselves through law school by being topless dancers. I never relied on Snopes for facts anyway. They once reported something that I witnessed as bogus.

Zero experience in journalism, zero experience in investigation automatically disqualifies them. Do they have a bachelor's degree as most journalists do given their job positions? Nope? Wont take them seriously at all.

The internet sleuths (pizzagate for example) who were at the forefront of this whole "fake news" phenomenon were average people who searched and posted their own news. Correct?

The truth is, we all could do our own fact checking without the credentials you mentioned. We don't need the "experts" to tell us what's real and what's fake.. It's just that most of us are too lazy.

One way to tell when someone stops thinking is to notice the exact moment he refers you to Snopes.

This guy seems like a piece of work.

Not sure what being a porn star has to do with factual reporting...if anything, they're a lot less likely to be hiding anything...but if that's how people rate the veracity of their "fact-checkers", they deserve whatever they get. Bonus Karma points for being stupid enough to trust strangers on the internet to provide them with the "facts" in the first place, rather than getting off their lazy, entitled asses and checking for themselves.

do real people actually do the fact checking? I assumed that a computer did most of that.

It easy to tell that the government is going BS wen it considers hiring Snopes as a fact checker. Most likely another waste of government funds.
