Strange Encounter With A Strange Kid Today

He was pretty young (5 or 6) to be a gamer...but, these days...who knows?
I like the actual garden gnome theory...as it doesn't mean the kid is out of touch with reality.

He wasn't holding a phone...but I wonder if this was a Pokemon kind of thing.

The little boy looked perfectly normal...dressed in a warm coat, mittens etc. He was soft-spoken and shy...until he became agitated when I didn't understand what he was talking about and when I tried to tell him Zombie Gnomes were not real...Basically, what I relayed initially in my OP.

What WAS kind of surreal was the overall scenario itself,...as well as the fact he was out there by himself and just, straight out, asked me if I'd seen any Zombie Gnomes around.

Sorry, I should have put a laughing face after my post. That has to be the creepiest story I've heard for a while, if it was me I probably would have been rebuking every demon in the name of Jesus! Probably scarred the kid for life. LOL

Have you ever seen this kid playing outside at that house? It seems odd you wouldn't recognize a kid that lives that close since your office window points toward the street.

Didn't recognize him. As I mentioned, we have a long driveway that winds to the end of the cul-de-sac...with our house set back into the woods.

I know the neighbors on the street front on either side...plus a couple of others, but none of the families with young kids. Several new families moved in down the street in the past year and I assumed he belonged to one of those.

He may have been one of the kids we had for Trick-or-Treat (only had about a dozen come by)...but he wasn't familiar.
