Thinking of buying a PS4. Anyone played FFXV?

I haven't really gamed or owned a console in many years. The last console I actually owned was a 360 and I barely had time to give it attention.

I am thinking of getting a PS4 lately. Rumors are that the FFVII remake are just around the corner, maybe with a release date of within 2017!

I also see that Final Fantasy 15 was released. I haven't paid much attention to the series since 13; because it sucked more than a (insert your own joke here.)

I sawg a few reviews on youtube, but am skeptical.

Can I get an honest review from an ordinary gamer who has played it, but isn't interested in getting youtube views or marketing the game?

Remember this would be my first PS4 game in mind for purchase.

Can you recommend any other games worth buying the console for? I like a little bit of everything, but am kind of a retro gamer and get turned off by 1) long-ass cutscenes and tutorials, 2) short-ass games with little replay value, 3) online, DLC, expansion games blah blah blah

I still have VERY little time for gaming.

The only reason I am considering buying a console is for the Final Fantasy 7 remake. Sad, but true.

I've been out of games a long time. But I did see that FF film, and it wasn't bad, and it got me curious, and I must say they aren't playing games in their launch of that game. The game looks pretty sweet too. Makes me membah the good old careless days when games were life; almost makes me wish I could even get into games anymore.

I am on PS4 and am currently playing FF15 now.

It is an ok game, but it more tailored to newcomers to the series than hard core followers. I preferred 14 where it was a MMORPG, and you could meet up with people and play with them in open world or dungeon type quests.

In 15 it is just you with 3 AI companions. The fight mechanics are easy to learn, and it is near impossible to die as long as you do not punch 5 levels over your head. The replay value of it I am thinking will be almost nothing. I am currently in chapter 9 and it is still pretty easy.

There are a tremendous amount of side quests, so if you can basically play for a long time and just ignore the main story line. It IS a visually stunning game, but overall, I preferred 14.

I have an Xbox One as well. PS exclusives are phenomenal though.

FF15 is an unfinished masterpiece that soars at its peak but it doesn't do a very good job at hiding its flaws. It gets very "lackluster," towards the finale and some aspects such as the driving outright pissed me off (the "driving," is linear and seems completely out of place).

I figured out last year that there's actually some sweet 'movies' on youtube, outtakes from some of these games now (playing South Park Stick of Truth to achieve the 'entire canon' got me realizing this). I tried playing that FF7 on there and oh man it was gross. I thought maybe there was a mistake or something 'this thing cant be basedoff ff7 from psx'; nope total emo snowflake anime n00b reality world was my impression.

The Last of Us 2 is going to be EPIC

Ah, so it's the version I was already talking about, ok.

There is the remake on deck, and I heard tell they are going to release some pack with all the old FF games up to and including 7 for the anniversary.

it would literally take a year if you play everyday and do not sleep at all

Speedplays can be done. Not by me though. I am a completest with those games.

A lot of them can be done as a speed play if you know what you're doing.

I like to take my time, explore, talk to the townsfolk, get 100% secrets/ items/ quests etc.
