Yet citizens have a right to show up to military funerals and use homophobic slurs with the goal to disrupt a family and maybe even personally religious ceremony?

Hypocritical don't you think? The only true crime is exposing the hypocrisy?

Or art that thows a crucifix in piss? Why was that not inciting violence?

Or the burning of a black church is a hate crime until its found out the arson maybe by a member of its own congregation.

You do realize there are already restrictions on speech, right? Threats, libel & slander, and disclosure of classified information are "not so free speech" crimes. Inciting a riot is also crime, usually a misdemeanor. There are other legal restrictions on speech too, like insider trading laws, copyright infringement laws, and many anti-fraud laws.

Sorry, true freedom is when you have the freedom to do things that aren't safe and/or what you think is dumb.

How is it any different for BLM to show up at a quite restaurant and call white Americans racist. That is racist. That is profiling. That is stereotyping.

That is actually trespassing and illegal since it is private property.

Shouldn't you be taking that up with lawmakers since they write the laws? Florida already has a law against protesting at funerals. And the "Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act of 2012" further restricted the right to protest at military funerals.

Or the burning of a black church is a hate crime until its found out the arson maybe by a member of its own congregation.

It would still be arson which is also a crime.

Although this brings up a question. Do you think crimes should be judged strictly based on the end result, with the perpetrator's intentions having no bearing on the charge? Think about it carefully because that's also the difference between terrorism charges and normal crimes; hate crimes and normal crimes; the different degrees of murder (and manslaughter), etc. Intentions make up a big part of our judicial system.

Ut oh this student is in deep trouble for using what some may say is free speech.

Others would say blatant racism.
That is not free speech.

So how is the KKK marching down the street chanting "White Power" legal? I would say that is blatant racism but you don't see them getting charged. Whats the difference.

I think this kids actions were dumb but not against the law.

Able does not mean should.

All he's proved is that he has the constitutional right to be a prick of the highest order. Yay for him.

What we consider law makers didn't write the first amendment, they can write laws to weaken it until it gets over turned. This is an obvious violation if this idiots civil rights.

He deserves it..what if stuff went left and some innocent person was injured due to his taunting that resulted in a violent response...very disrespectful.

Offensive, disrespectful speech is still covered under free speech. If the protesters turned violent that would be their decision. Someone else's words is never a justification for anyone to become violent.

"Free Speech" zones are unconstitutional. If a college or university receives any amount of taxpayer funds it is a public institution and the entire campus must accept free speech and contrary ideas from it's students.

If they want to censor speech, then go private. It's entirely within their right to fund themselves and run things their own way within the sanctity of private property. But not when my tax dollars are paying their salaries.

I hope these bogus charges are thrown out. If you believe in the Constitution you should be fighting this. If you don't, then please leave the United States. You don't belong here.

You're an idiot. If you don't believe in free speech then move to China. The Communist party doesn't permit contrary ideas in Red China.

So he wanted to get stomped?

So he had some one pick up some stuff from the store.

Do any of these things trump the constitution?

Again, he told the arresting officer that his explicit goal was to incite violence. That's not protected speech.

Think about what you just said. If you don't believe I have freedom of speech you should move to China?

Do you see the irony?

That's what I don't like about BLM. It should be about stopping all racism. Not promoting a specific group as racist to promote your groups political power as a race?

If you consider going to a veteran's funeral and burning a flag as they lower the casket as free speech, then sure it is.

BLM is a domestic terrorist organization created and funded by the thug George Soros and condoned by obama, hilliary and the rest of the seditionists. They don't have rights and will hopefully be dealt with shortly.

Their behaviour will not be tolerated under Trump.

They will and should be able to say what they like, but beyond that, if they behave in a manner below the expected standard, i.e any violent behaviour; then they should be assisting the Prison Industrial Complex.
