German politician threatens to fine Facebook €500,000 every time it shows fake news

by Cara McGoogan

Germany has threatened to crack down on the fake news scandal plaguing Facebook by levying hefty fines for posts that aren't removed immediately amid mounting fears that disinformation could influence the country's upcoming elections.
...
Thomas Opperman, the chief of the Social Democrat Party, a junior partner in Germany's coalition government, said it would introduce a bill next year to target the problem on the social network.

Humm, how interesting that it was a month ago that the German authorities were saying they wanted to deal with "hate-speech" from Facebook in their attempt to stop all speech that would mention the problems brought in by the amount of Muslim immigrants who are not being vetted, yet the open policy is allowing millions of such refugees enter all of Europe, not just Germany, and which has caused a lot of problems and crimes.

How Germany Is Dealing With Its Facebook Hate-Speech Problem
By Ben Crair
...

The anti-refugee sentiment that Jun wanted to extinguish has exploded after ISIS’s attack on Paris, not just in Europe but in the United States as well. Xenophobia has concentrated especially on social media, where like-minded people from violent radicals to mainstream nationalists can coordinate, share, and exchange ideas. Most people in the U.S., with its relatively weak state and strong free speech traditions, seem willing to give companies like Facebook a pass. Hate is, in this case, the cost of doing business. But Germany has seen the worst excesses of both populist nationalism and state repression, and is ill-inclined to shrug its shoulders at either hate speech or privacy violations. Instead, it’s taking an aggressive approach, weighing speech and privacy rights against the horrible legacy of the 20th century as it tries to force Facebook to take responsibility for the ugliness on its servers.

Since when it is okay to use the slurs some people post on public media to stop all speech that would discuss the problems being brought to western nations by having an open border policy allowing Muslim immigrants who are not being vetted into western societies?

Even the social democratic party in Germany want what they call "fake news" to be stopped. Yet we know for a fact that German authorities have tried to hide the crimes made by waves of Muslim immigrants that have not been vetted in Germany, and Europe in general.

German authorities have gone so far as blaming "whites" in Germany.

Parenting Magazine Warns ‘Blond, Cheerful’ Families Dangerous, Likely Right Wing

Yet under the guise of "multiculturalism" a new fascist regime has been rising in Germany. But this time by blaming all whites and allowing "multiculturalism" even if it causes increases in crimes, and terrorist acts.

History does seem to be repeating itself. But this time the roles are reversed.

Was wondering when someone would post this.

Clamp ing down on viral fake news, Facebook partners with sites like Snopes and adds new user reporting
A new system funnels fake news reports to fact-checkers from Snopes, PolitiFact, FactCheck.org, ABC, and AP.

Mark Zuckerberg sought advice from Clinton campaign via Sheryl Sandberg about getting involved in politics, leaked documents reveals
-Leaked emails show Sheryl Sandberg wrote John Podesta in August 2015
-She said Mark Zuckerberg was keen to meet Podesta to discuss issues
-Podesta is Hillary Clinton's campaign manager and one of her top aides
-Zuckerberg was 'hungry to learn' how he could influence public policy
-Facebook has 1.7 billion users and the IRS is chasing it for $5 billion in tax

Fact-Checking Snopes: Website’s Political ‘Fact-Checker’ Is Just A Failed Liberal Blogger
Popular myth-busting website Snopes originally gained recognition for being the go-to site for disproving outlandish urban legends -such as the presence of UFOs in Haiti or the existence of human-animal hybrids in the Amazon jungle.

Recently, however, the site has tried to pose as a political fact-checker. But Snopes’ “fact-checking” looks more like playing defense for prominent Democrats like Hillary Clinton and it’s political “fact-checker” describes herself as a liberal and has called Republicans “regressive” and afraid of “female agency.”

Snopes’ main political fact-checker is a writer named Kim Lacapria. Before writing for Snopes, Lacapria wrote for Inquisitr, a blog that — oddly enough — is known for publishing fake quotes and even downright hoaxes as much as anything else.

The Liberal Tilt at PolitiFact
This is a pattern with PolitiFact. Overall, they've rated Trump "False"/"Mostly False"/"Pants on Fire" 77 percent of the time. But they've rated Clinton "False" and "Mostly False" only 26 percent of the time.

The PolitiFact political agenda jumps off the page. On the Republican side, Sen. Ted Cruz lands on the "False" side 65 percent of the time, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich 57 percent of the time and former Sen. Rick Santorum 55 percent of the time. For Democrats, President Obama is ruled false 25 percent of the time, and Sen. Bernie Sanders is false only 30 percent of the time. This is the guy who routinely says, "the business model of Wall Street is fraud."

FactCheck.org is Sponsored by Decidedly LEFTIST Organization: ANNENBERG Public Policy Foundation
The fact is, the ANNENBERG Public Policy Center (APPC), the sponsoring agency behind FastCheck.org, is itself supported by the same foundation, the ANNENBERG FOUNDATION, that Bill Ayers secured the 49.2 million dollars from to create the Chicago ANNENBERG Challenge “philanthropic” organization in which Barack Obama was the founding Chairman of the Board for and Ayers served as the grant writer of and co-Chair of for its two operating arms.

Associated Press "journalist" Eric Tucker is willing to be 'steered away' from a story about Clinton's emails:
> We have been told, and we are preparing to report, that the FBI has > taken possession of the thumb drive that was once in your possession. This > is what we have been informed, and we wanted to see whether there was any > sort of comment that could be provided. If you wanted to steer us away and > say that we are misinformed, then I would gladly accept that as well. But > we have solid reason to believe this. We’d welcome any comment you can > offer. Thanks very much.

That thumbdrive had the missing Hillary server emails, as revealed in the Podesta WikiLeaks dumps.

If it is done in one social media it will be done to all social media, and in this manner all information can be controlled by the globalists.

I don't think they can control it...
not without taking out much of the interaction that takes place on the internet..
they'd have to go through the posts constantly, looking at every page available since, you really can't search graphics too well, or videos, just the titles and filenames.
it's next to impossible.

The banning of our local SJWs? LOL

I've actually made a list of them ... and do not engage them on this site beyond casual discourse.

Top ten country in gdp that is the most recent to deal with totalitarianism is leading the western world in "open mindedness" screwed themselves and is now going to adopt speech and privacy restrictions after the rest of us are bitching about them.

The irony.

europe has grown weak and have forgotten how nations, peoples and cultures are destroyed through mass immigration, they seem to think that just because america has succeeded with creating a working multicultural society that can handle immigration without much of an issue, that they can too; yet they don't understand why we have had so much success.

i'll tell you how, it's because we don't help immigrants and we expect them to adapt and work for their own place in society or get out and go back home, we don't shelter them like caged animals and pretend we care, work or gtfo is our way.

hiding reality, ignoring issues and acting like you care towards those who resent your patronizing kindness is what invites destruction.

The transition from forums to blogs is finalized with this "fake news" thing. It's not about TPB or some junk like that. It's moving from antenna TV to cable.

That's what this is, that's to me what this is. It's important to the people with big technology and entertainment stakes that people just consume data, not exchange it.

It's sad. But it's also sites like this one that have thrown fuel into the fire. It's not blame, it should have been allowed. But we should have known better.

Is it when many of those "left-wing" sites have been caught posting false information themselves? You rather blame people the freedom of speech to be able to talk about any event, instead of blaming the left-wing authoritarians using this as an excuse to control information?... That makes no sense.

Never mind letting an endless flow of terrorists into their country. Lets worry about banning free speech instead. What a useful idiot.

Internet cannot be stopped, other sites will replace facebook etc. Fake news is going to be hard on old generation, however new generation can easily distinguish fake from possibly real to real news.

Half a million per article?

Let me tell you, in just a few short hours, depending on the type of traffic, and the geopolitical situation on a given day of the week, that could wind up becoming millions, if not billions per day. How many posts, reposts and shares do you suppose it would take, per hour, for this to start making a hole in the balance sheet? I would give it a week or two before it became ruinously costly.
