. . . everyone was surprised when the chief constable arrived by helicopter and announced from the sky that they were all to be arrested.

"He was going to arrest 500 people as a result of the actions of about ten people," says Lord Cardigan, still in disbelief after 30 years. It was to be one of the biggest mass arrests of the 20th century, and the biggest mass arrest of civilians since the Second World War.

The news section of Police Review, published seven days after the Beanfield, stated: “The Police operation had been planned for several months and lessons in rapid deployment learned from the miners strike were implemented.”

The manufactured reasoning behind such heavy-handed tactics was best summed up in a laughable passage from the confidential police report on the Beanfield:

“There is known to be a hierarchy within the convoy; a small nucleus of leaders making the final decisions on all matters of importance relating to the convoys activities. A second group who are known as the lieutenants or warriors carry out the wishes of the convoy leader, intimidating other groups on site.”

I believe there was a small nucleus of black ops guys running the show. But as usual those completely fooled by them will argue strongly against it. The clash was orchestrated. Smith was responsible for his part, now he will never face justice.

The Beanfield Ambush deserves more attention. It was hugely influential. I only have to go a few yards from my front door to find people who were permanently affected.

An inquiry will be blocked for the same reason an Orgreave inquiry was blocked. We're supposed to use this historical event to bash 'the police'. An in depth inquiry will show far more deep state involvement than anyone will be comfortable with.
