I don't think many of us expected less. Looks as tho we can expect absolutely nothing less than CIA approved information. You know the CIA, the group that is only supposed to operate in other countries.

fromWashington Blog

Facebook is adding a new feature wherein a group that the Washington Post calls an ‘independent third party fact checker’ will decide whether stories are real or fake, and flag ones the group decides are fake.

WaPo leaves out of its report that the ‘independent fact checker’, the Poynter International Fact-Checking Network, receives funding from a US government-funded group, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which award-winning, independent journalist Robert Parry and author William Blum document was created to perform tasks previously performed by the CIA.

NED was created when “[t]he Agency was getting an exceedingly bad name, and it was causing the powers-that-be much embarrassment”, notes Blum.

Parry notes that CIA director William Casey helped establish NED as a “U.S. government-funded organization” to “support groups inside foreign countries that would engage in propaganda [ie fake news] and political action that the CIA had historically organized and paid for covertly”, including “regime change”. At the time of the group’s creation, Casey ensured that “the language barring the participation of CIA personnel” was “struck from the bill”.

Blum further notes that “Allen Weinstein, who helped draft the legislation establishing NED, declared in 1991: ‘A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA.’”

Although they claim they are no longer funded the CIA as most know, once
a program is successful, the CIA never gives it up. It may not be funded by the CIA overtly but ...the known list of funders should be checked out. A task better left to people more competent than myself.

This could truly be the beginning attempt at complete censorship. I know it has been implied here, but if facebook is successful, how many others will follow through with this organization?

“an American businessman” (Arthur Blank, worth over $3 billion)

US “businessman and media mogul” Roy H. Park (“known for creating the Duncan Hines brand of packaged food products and for his television/radio/newspaper conglomerate”)

“American business magnate” Bill Gates (worth over $80 billion)

eBay founder, Nevada resident and billionaire Pierre Omidyar, who has also started The Intercept

Hungarian-American “business magnate” and “political activist” George Soros (worth over $20 billion)

Google, which Wikileaks has illustrated is a virtual arm of the US government, and which research by respected psychologist Robert Epstein determined was attempting to influence the election on behalf of Hillary Clinton.

You know what is so hilarious (if it wasn't actually so sad) about the CIA and all these government stool pigeons fighting this information war?

The fact that they were already fighting it, and they were fighting very strongly against Donald Trump, and they LOST in a very big way. The equivalent of getting smashed in the face with a heavy board right on PAYDAY.

It left a very big black eye and many lost teeth in these mongoloid's who are supposed to have honor and liberty in mind for this country, but instead, they have abrogated all of their oaths to the rest of us who make it possible for them to feed themselves.

They have chosen to go beyond that frightening gate that has a big sign on it that reads:

"Abandon all hope Ye who enter here"

And unfortunately, this includes president Obama. A very sad state of sordid affairs.

Well, as you know, if at first you don't succeed, try again. Think this is the third try. The second being the so called russian intervention in the electoral process. In case that doesn't work, we will have the 'fake news' meme all over MSM.
Unfortunately this has a better chance of working.

The thing is The CIA are a load of good catholic boys , nothing wrong with that. But some of the things they have done over the years is pretty bad. So what does a good catholic boy do when his conscience is playing up. I suppose he goes to a Priest and confesses, since they say the Vatican has one of the best intelligence services on earth. We could now blame the Vatican. So we now have a potential security leak.

ATS was already on a list by Propornot used by MSM and since removed from that. See here- www.abovetopsecret.com... Here is one where it's not removed: "fakenewschecker". What exactly is FB sourcing here as to which sites should be blocked? (shared in another thread)
What will the Government use to gauge who is fake news?

It remains to be seen how effective Google’s new policy on fake news will be in practice. The policy will rely on a combination of automated and human reviews to help determine what is fake. Although satire sites like The Onion are not the target of the policy, it is not clear whether some of them, which often run fake news stories written for humorous effect, will be inadvertently affected by Google’s change.

Think everyone knows George Soros and his affiliations

We also know about Google's media presence and their many gov visits

So this is mostly media and big money

Will they never learn? LIBERTY seeking folks will always find a way to connect and disseminate information..

So FB, Twitter, Google Youtube et al so called kings of social media implement CONTROL...

New venues will surface, who don't suppress opposing views under the guise of FAKE NEWS...

ATS has been very selective in which sites repeatedly push "sensationalized" FAKE info that are singled out... I don't have a single issue with what destinations this site has relegated to the hoax forum.... those folks earned that distinction...

What the Large Social Media and MSM are attempting is irresponsible... and those social media venues will pay the price..

If you own stock in them, it may be time to SELL SELL SELL...

Control of the media is a great flag to have, helps heaps in managing public opinion. The rise of the internet is increasing the challenges with holding this flag. Decentralisation is an opposing force for the control that has transpired through the associated press.

What people talk about is always going to be political. Trying to control and direct the minds of millions is always on the list of things to do for all megalomaniacs. Lies, deception and propaganda has been a part of this culture for a long time so keep your heads up and engaged. With the internet and convergence still ongoing, there is still a long fight to go when sorting out the facts from the fiction.

This ploy has the potential to backfire.
If "Fake News" turns into a label for "nasty things about the Democrats", then that will attract readers who are looking for nasty things about the Democrats, showing them where they can be found.
In the same way that "not suitable for children" is a warning sign for parents and a beckoning welcome to other kinds of viewer.

How long will it take for someone to develop an app to search out for Fake News flags?

This one didn't get enough flags/discussion/attention.

(post generally need to get 100 responses, or 50 flags to make the front page)
