That is gonna be a pretty scary situation tonight for some people in both groups, prisoners and the prison officers retaking the place.

In the long term it might be a good thing.

The goverment will be forced to take action.

Chain of command will be HMPS not police though.
That turf war is fiercely fought by both organisations.

You're spot on there; I stand corrected

floor plans

They've greased some of the floors. I hope the training covers that.

...or they've kettled themselves?

Is it not unsettling the company G4S is involved with this mess? The same company that has ties to hired individuals involved with terror strikes?

Fill the prison with vomiting agent(DM) and send in the troops.

Once the prisoners get a lung full of DM gas they will want to give up.

It's all over. A show of force by the Tornado team inspired the prisoners to negotiate and that's that.

How's this for mindless, meaningless political rhetoric?

HMP Birmingham prison rioters will "face the full force of the law," Justice Secretary Liz Truss has said.

What's next? The Environment Secretary declaring that "water is extremely wet." Honestly, why do we pay taxes for these idiots?

ETA - P.S. and nobody got shot!

Now that the riot has been quelled will the costs of repairs to the damage come out of the profits of G4S?

Surely Tornado Team would be more suited to a highly trained elite corp of Bailiffs.. Without warning and from nowhere they touch down and # off with your stuff.

The French film, Taxi, had a moronic police boss who named his special team 'COBRA.' It was a joke at the expense of whoever dreams up these testosterone-fuelled names. Pissed my sides when Cameron went on to name his anti-terrorism tactical force COBRA. They don't get it do they?

"We need a name that tells the Great British public we are strongly against terrorism; a name to strike fear into the hears and minds of terrorists everywhere. Oh. My. God. Literal goosebumps, Gordon."

Pause.

"Cobra!"

You can borrow all you want here in Scotland if the person is stupid enough to give you it. Baliffs cant come into your house to recover a debt like they do in other parts of the uk..the most they can do is a court order for a wages arrestement.. at that point you can just file for bankruptcy and pay back a token amount over a year then you're free..

No, thankfully just injuries.
And although our prison service is clearly in a mess, I have to wonder how many would have been shot if this had happened in the US.

Or maybe far less injuries.

Already, a revolt at Holmes Correctional in Florida’s Panhandle on Wednesday night, involving more than 400 inmates, caused damage to nearly every dorm during an uprising that lasted into the early morning. No one was seriously injured, but the department is concerned that the disturbance might be a harbinger of what’s to come.

Looks like it's kicking off in Hull prison now.
Around 30 or so prisoners have been transferred there from the Birmingham trouble.
