Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk will join an advisory team for President-elect Donald Trump, Trump’s transition office announced Wednesday.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick and Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi will also join the President’s Strategic and Policy Forum.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick

Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi

Ignored ethnicity and politics, picked the right people for the job. That's how government is supposed to work.

Telsa/SpaceX CEO Elon Musk

thehill.com...

A liberal, a little bit socialist, has spoken early on in this election against Trump, but the guy is a brilliant innovator and businessman, exactly what this country needs

Tesla is building the largest factory in the world for batteries (the gigafactory will double world cell production alone, while also producing the highest capacity cells available anywhere), as well as a similar scale solar factory.

They're building a global supercharging network that's unrivaled by any other automaker. They're reinvesting all available resources into extremely rapid expansion,

In reality they're fighting to change the world, get us off Saudi oil, and doing it all with American labor on American soil.

Other key tech players expected to be at the meeting include Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg; Eric Schmidt and Larry Page of Alphabet, Google's parent company; and Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon who also owns The Washington Post. A representative from Uber will not be in attendance.

“America has the most innovative and vibrant companies in the world, and the pioneering CEOs joining this Forum today are at the top of their fields,” Trump said in a statement

Methinks this will fuel the GOP Establishment's rage against Musk.

But I commend Trump for this. He wants to make sure that when the first man sets foot on Mars in the near future, that it's an American man (or woman).

I love musk.

This is good news.

Makes a change from the banksters and neocin scum surrounding him

Elon Musk everyone, Elon Musk.

You don't involve Elon if you aren't thinking ahead a few decades.

That assumes he actually listens to him. Trump has already appointed the CEO of ExxonMobil to SOS and someone who has stated he would shut down the EPA to the head of the EPA. That kind of sends a clear message that he opposes anything Musk would push.

Musk is a great visionary. Just think twice before taking any business advice from him: Tesla and Solar City have both burned up huge volumes of investor money and still are not profitable (and they merged to keep Solar City from going broke). Space X is profitable, but only because it has NASA contracts.

Elon Musk, meh.

In a few moths he will recuse himself to try and save his faltering companies. Australia is about to release a aluminum-graphene battery that will ruin his gigafactory. Flow batteries at the grid level are already being deployed. Canada has a couple companies about to make a grid-level push with a Massachusetts company. They will prove that there is no real need for the Solar City thing. I bet that California will drop Tesla storage which will be the signal he is in trouble.

If Elon Musk ever read ATS he might get nightmares!

Okay. Is that supposed to be good news?
One guy who lowered the standards of taxis to ensure no other but him makes money.
One gal working for one of the biggest sugar dealers in a country with 10% diabetes and 86 million pre-diabetes.
And the other guy burns casually 4.9bill $ subsidies, with not a single -zero- real technological innovation or progress of any kind.
Great. So the advice will probably be something like: close all malls people can sell stuff from amazon much cheaper from their front yards, we tax them like crazy on healthy food so in maybe 40-60 years we can kill 10 people stupid enough to believe they could stand a week on Mars.
But cheap black sugar piss for everybody.
Yeah because reckless plutocrats is what makes America great!

Are you kidding? Yes it is, replacing sold out washed out politicians with successful American businessman

A quote from ATS member Xeven

It really is a coup. He really is in large part draining the swamp of lawyers. Most of the people in cabinet positions and even the Presidency have been lawyers

Lobbyism was part of why politicians are so unpopular, that's true. But I really struggle to understand why and how it's better to make those people normally paying the lobbyists in Washington, like Tillerson from EXXON (!!!) now cabinet members?
So they don't waste time pretending they could have morals and ideals besides power and money and corporate interests?
And with those plus Mad Dog Mattis famous for saying "it's fun to shoot some people" what could possibly go wrong?

It is a coup also true. Mostly after a coup comes the dictator with his close friends. Never a good thing for the population.

I feel like Trump is trying to assemble a socioeconomic All-Star team. Like, because he didn't have any political affiliations, no influence, or no team, he also didn't owe anyone any favors, and so he is free to just scout all the first round draft picks and all-stars he wants - like he's trying to crush the socioeconomic game.

That's what it looks like anyway.

If this is true, then thats great.

Good to hear Elon is on the team. I don't know about Travis. I don't like the way he treats his drivers.

Hopefully he implements some more solar farms into our grid.

Getting musk involved is about the only good idea he has had thus far. Mark me intrigued.

Agreed, now lets see if they were the right people to clean the swamp or create a new swamp?

Way to early to declare victory , failure or be happy or disappointed about his picks. With the team he has put forward this can still go eitherway.

The only good news from Trump so far is Hillary didn't win.

Sometimes I feel that way and that he will do a good job because his EGO is even bigger than his GREED. I also think among the Big Billionaires he was never respected and this might be his chance to tell them to F Off and demonstrate success to throw it in their face.

Then I have a hard time not feeling like he is just a conman.

He is a wildcard for me, but unlike with Hillary I would have never felt a chance for anything positive to come.

He has definitely been selling confidence, but I don't know that he doesn't want what he's saying to be true. Do you know what I mean? Like, a little kid who wants everyone to watch him do a triple backflip into pool: we all know he won't make it, but as long as tries, I'll root for him. lol
