I find it interesting that almost every song I can think of about memories is a sad song. Why do you think that is? I think people tend to focus more on negative memories than positive memories.

Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" is my first choice. I find the music video to be even more poignant than the song. I recommend that everyone at least watch the last minute of the video. I think it's haunting and unforgettable, and it should remind everyone of how important love is.

Surely the other way round? If people have good and positive memories of a time in the past, they naturally feel sad that the happy period has come to an end.

The way I look at it is if a memory has become sad for any reason then it is a negative memory. In my view, it becomes a negative memory at the point that it becomes a sad memory.

I thought of a happy song about positive memories.

This would be my first pick - story behind it was that my grandpa didn't really spend a lot of time with my dad. So, just as the boy in the song, he grew up, and it was only then that my grandpa wanted to do things with him. My dad was determined to spare us (or himself) from the same fate, and did as much as he could to spend time with my siblings and myself while we were growing up. Although I did fulfill the family curse of growing up almost like him, we're still different people.

Two songs with positive (although bittersweet) memories that come to mind are Bruce Springsteen's "Glory Days" and John Cougar Mellencamp's "Cherry Bomb".

I find this song to be a perfect blend of sadness and joy.
