It really isn't.

Trump has not announced any intention to establish a single party state and abolish the electoral process.

Trump does not endorse mass, continuous "direct action" (violence) against elements hostile to the fascist cause.

Trump does not want to ban homosexual activity, pornography, birth control (condoms and stuff) which was a big (and oddly specific, even for the time) part of the Italian Fascist Party's platform.

Donald Trump does not support Social Darwinism.

Donald Trump is not an Ethnic Nationalist.

Trump has never once said that women have no place in American society other than as homemakers and childbearers.

Trump does not support the nationalisation of major industries, nor does he want a broader welfare state.

The only tenant of Fascism that Donald Trump supports is Nationalism. Being a Nationalist does not make you a Fascist. It is indeed very possible to be a Nationalist and not a Fascist. Nationalists exist both on the left and the right of the political spectrum.

It is wise to educate yourself on a political ideology before you accuse people of championing it.

That last part also applies to the American Right Wingers who have been operating under the delusion for the past 8 years that Barack Obama was somehow a "Socialist" or a "Communist".

Not only is Rolling Stone resorting to revelation—again—but it appears our fellow members are as well. What might have been a great learning experience only fueled the habit.

I'd say Rolling Stone has it right.

Trump is a disaster waiting to happen.

This isn't going to be settled by a check list.

West Side Story isn't Romeo and Juliet. You can go down the list. No singing and dancing Puerto Rican's in Venice. Check. Different cast of characters. Check. Different costumes. Check. Different set. Check.

But it's the same damn story.

If it turns out they are right, and trump goes all fascism on your fellow Americans are you guys gonna stick up for your fellow Americans or are you gonna go all Hitler youth.

I laugh every time someone try to link Trump with Nazis, fascists or Hitler. You got no clue what are you talking about. My family went through WW2 and some of them were part of the resistance and fought Nazis and gave their lives.

No offense to your thread, but posting about "Rolling Stone" and how terrible and biased that it has become (maybe we could characterize it as being a man-boy of a publication?) is like starting a thread on how the sky is blue (as viewed from Earth) and that Michael Moore looks like the Adipose character from "Doctor Who," if it were wearing a bad wig and glasses.

We know that these things are factual.

No it isn't, you can in fact go down a list.

If someone does not adhere to the tenants of fascism, one cannot be a fascist. It is an ideology with written doctrines. hence the list.

Likewise if someone does not adhere to the tenants of Marxism-Leninism, it stands to reason they are not in fact a Communist.

Trump is a proven innovative developer and builder, let's see what he can do with America

Hopefully America won't be another in his line of bankruptcies , although given the debt you already have I think that a forlorn hope.

I've been standing up for my fellow American as the fascist left has cracked down on freedom of speech and thought.

I'm sure that neither side of this issue will surrender upon learning that imprecise terminology, fake news propaganda, hypocrites, and opportunists are present in their ranks.

We all want to find these things in the other side. We all want our side to be the good guys. I did, when I was a right-wing Christian. I still do now that I'm a left-wing heretic.

The Rolling Stone has about as much credibility these days as the Weekly World News.

People really shouldn't try to apply the left/right to anything anymore. Depending on who you ask the definition of what is left or right varies wildly, and most political positions are fairly interchangeable.

As much as I hate to admit it, the supposedly right wing ideology of Fascism has much in common with many schools of Socialism, which is hardly surprising because the original fascists were the nationalist wing of the Italian Socialist Party.

Likewise an American Libertarian, let's say a Tea Partier for the sake of argument, is considered right wing, yet he has nothing in common with a Nazi in terms of belief.

On the other side, a Blairite Labour Party member, allegedly left wing (though not really) believes in almost nothing that a Marxist-Leninist does.

The ultra simplistic left-right spectrum does not adequately deacribe the complex and ever-changing world of political science and ideology.

I find it quite detrimental to such discussions in general.

She was the alternate choice...so people had to choose for either a known disaster, or a guy with a 50-50 chance of being a disaster of a different kind - or a home run hitter.

She was not the only choice. Stop using Hillary as a crutch. Trump won. Now you guys have to stand on your own two feet and take the hits like a man, instead of pulling a women(Hillary) in front of you to take the blows.

Only in the narrowest of senses. Obama factored into the electoral choice in that Clinton was the Obama-legacy candidate.

That's what the Right Wing talking heads and rhetoric says. Obama's legacy was not Clinton.

Not sure I would apply the words "just more". It may be, we'll see, that Trump's approach will actually work for America - Obama/Clinton's certainly did not.

Obama actually did fairly well.

It is rather difficult to equate Trump with Fascism.

Fascism is decidedly left-of-center in terms of economics for one, and I haven't heard Trump come out in support of nationalisation of all major industries.

Apparently, you don't know much about fascism.
