MGM confirmed to Variety that Trump has retained his EP credit on the series. The president-elect’s status on the 15th season of the reality series that made him a household name has been a question since Trump launched his presidential campaign in June 2015. In the credit sequence, Trump’s name will air after that of “Apprentice” creator Mark Burnett and before Schwarzenegger, who is also an exec producer of the new incarnation along with Page Feldman and Eric Van Wagenen. The larger issue for MGM, NBC, and the White House is the payment that Trump will receive for the series. It’s unclear what his per-episode fee is, but it is likely to be in the low five-figures, at minimum. NBC has ordered eight episodes of “The New Celebrity Apprentice.” Trump’s fees will be paid through MGM, the production entity on the show, not NBC. MGM declined to comment on the financial terms of Trump’s deal. A spokeswoman for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment. NBC declined to comment.

You would think that being the President would keep Trump busy enough, but looks like he doesn't want hand off his TV show to anyone else and will remain involved.

This brings up the question once again, of confilicts of interest. Should the sitting President of the US stay involved with the show that helped make him a household name.

How involved is an executive producer (I have no idea just wondering)...

Couldn't someone have said the same thing about Obama and his golf game or his campaigning for Hillary?

Makes sense. In 4 years he'll be back in his TV business, and America will still be America.

Hopefully.

Another Trump skill on his resume : multi-tasking
Obama can't walk and talk simultaneously. And $hillary needs a 'handler'

He's not taking the president's salary, already has two major companies keeping jobs here. I didn't heard crap about Obamas stock gains, capital gains, or vacation spending. Really?....

Just think about the political messages that can be amplified !!!

Reality is reality after all.

He probably won't do anything on the show. Executive producer is basically the sort of credit that's given to people who financially back a show, they're not expected to do anything.

Believe me, I want to criticize Trump on things, but I'm just not seeing anything here.

From the OP, it appears that his name will appear as a credit and he will be paid for the use of his name. I am not sure but it doesn't sound like he will be actively involved.

It's highly variable, some are involved like Trump when he was on the show, but others are more like silent partners. It's a lot like calling someone a recurring cast member on a TV series when their appearance is a cameo once every 3 seasons.

Do you understand what an EP does?
Its money.

He supplies money and perhaps his llc or whatever hires and fires the actual producers...nice try. EPs do jack all nothing

Before folks start commenting after going to college perhaps they should work in biz for say 10-20 years, it would save them embarassment

I think Im starting to understand, people who dislike Trump and were constantly told he didnt have a chance of winning and would be crushed have had their brains blown out of their head by the big dose of reality they got Nov 8.
Thats the only logical conclusion considering that they all now seem to have intellectual disabilities.

I have some advice for all the Trump haters out there, before you post your BS hit pieces do some research and see if what your flinging is worth the effort and actually holds water outside of your lefty, SJW Trump hating bubble cause when you bring it here you will shot down.

As an EP Trump will do absolutely nothing, he wont be on the show, he wont advise to it, he wont organise the catering, he will do Sweet feck all, if you had of done any research on this instead of just rushing to share what you thought was proof of him being irresponsible or greedy or whatever you would have found out what I just said and saved yourself looking like a mindless tool

So Trump Critics have learning disabilities and youre going to insult them but you dont seem to know the role of an executive producer......

In television, an executive producer often supervises the creative content as well as the financial aspects of a production. Some writers (for example Stephen J. Cannell and Tina Fey) have been the creator and also the producer of the same TV show.[5] Other dual roles may include the executive director(s) starring in the show they produce, such as Full Throttle Saloon reality TV star, Jesse James Dupree. Still other shows may have more than one executive producer working on a TV show where there can be one among them who outranks the others. This position is known as the "showrunner,"[6] or operational executive producer. An executive producer who has created and established a successful TV series may still be credited as such, even if they have actually resigned, retired, or been dismissed from the show.[7]

Bottom line Trump needs to concentrate on being president, its precisely the reason that people who have businesses, and gain that office, put those businesses into a Blind Trust.....

Please dont insult people when youre just a pot calling the kettle black

So much for America 1st. Looks like he'd rather watch SNL then attend Intel briefings and make The Apprentice great again.

He's such a joke!

Did you even read the link you posted?

It says nothing about him devoting any time whatsoever to the show.

Is funny however when every March rolls around, Obama has time to go on ESPN and fill out his March Madness brackets.

It still seems to invalidate the whole idea of having assets in 'blind trust'. It's literally like having a second Job while in office. EP's are paid salary.

It's also not 'just money', most executive producers do not fund their own content.(I don't even know if Trump fully funds the Apprentice.) Their purpose is to oversee the creative content. For example, the Executive Producer of Rick and Morty drew the original concept art, and does the voices of the characters. It's the 'vision' of the show. They don't actually draw the characters for the show, and they might not even do all the story boards. They don't even fully write the episodes. They are the 'visionary contributor' and involved in many parts of the process, and approve/disapprove content from the time it's a rough draft, to the DVD.

To be blunt, a show cannot operate without one, and so the question is will this effect Trumps other job.

Maybe it has a different meaning over there but in OZ an executive producer is normally the person who made the show and since Trump originally made the show it fit, he was listed on the OZ and Brit versions as an EP and I doubt he had anything to do with those.

The OP thought Trump was either gonna be in the decision making process for the show or he knew damn well he wasnt and was just trolling.

Mate Ive seen more cognitive dissonance and mental gymnastics in the past week coming from all the Trump haters that I can no longer put it down to a temporary lapse in judgement and have had to conclude that it is in fact some kind of mental retardation that has taken hold.

Even if it is a case of me the pot calling the Trump hating kettles black it still means Im right

I'm not anti-Trump or a lefty. I have high hopes that Trump will follow through on campaign promises, and so far he's already saved and created american jobs.

I didn't post this as a hit piece,i'm just sharing the story and seeing if people think it's a conflict of interest. Even though he's involved "in name" only, he will still be receiving a paycheck from the show. That could be a conflict, although he may donate it to charity as he is doing with his presidential pay.
