I know a few guys who own farms in North Dakota, I went to university in Minot North Dakota, and have alot of friends who worked on the Minot air force base, along with friends who were in the air force. Also had friends at the Grand forks base before it closed down. Even though I'm Canadian, I was allowed on the base as well as I was in a rock band called Pandora's box. We played a concert on base as well as my drummer was a tech level five staff sargeant. We also practiced quite regularly on base.
Supposedly if North Dakota were to separate from The U.S. it would be the third most powerful nuclear entity in the world. 1Russia, 2U.S.A. then 3North Dakota.
Anyways lots of these guys have nuclear missle silos near or on their farm land. Strange things happen out there from weird scorched crops & earth marks near these silo's to bizzarre lights followed by a rush of the air force vehicles with armed escorts searching and examining the area.
Plus it was damn easy to get on base. A white female terrorist could get on base easier than shooting fish in a barrel. The air force guys are so desperate to get married cause their pay increases & they get better housing. Any comments.

Sounds like you have listened to all the rumors at the Bars around Minot.

All is not what it seems to be. Most of those lights etc., are actually training missions to test security in and around the silos. Nothing out of the ordinary at all. Did you see any of those scorched crops & earth marks near these silo's? If so where was the silo located? My guess is the farmer that told you that story was pulling your leg, they are known to do that, just for the hell of it to see what kind of reaction they can get. I mean after all they roll the sidewalks up at 9 ya know, so there is nothing else to do other then telling long tall stories.

When did you hear Grand Forks closed down? Must have been another one of those tall farmer tails.

Montana is right up there in Nuclear weapons too! The airforce base in Great Falls sends out a couple F16s everyday to do a fly over all of the silos here. We are a large portion of the Pacific Missle Defense System.

Those fighters are more then likely on normal fighter training missions not asscociated with the missles they fly to fast. Helicopers are used to monitor silos simply because they can hover and watch if need be or land security forces if needed.

No, they are doing silo fly overs, I know a couple of the pilots and they were excited to have something to do!

I find that very hard to believe. How can they see anything flying at several hundred miles and hour at 3000 or even 4 or 5 thousand ft?

Next time you fly, if you fly, look out a window while taking off; then try and look for things you know are there. Trust me it is extremely hard to do even at take off speeds and lower altitudes. Sure you might be able to spot at car, but by the time you see it, it is behind you and you do not know where it went. That is not the case with a helicopter, then you can slow down and hover if need be.

No offence but I think the pilots are telling you what they think you want to hear. Kind of like the tall stories the farmers in ND tell, if you get my drift.
