Hi there ATS!

I hope you are all enjoying a restful weekend (or exciting, whatever suits you best
)

I thought I'd share some of the varied and gorgeous music that comes from Mali. Some of these musicians are truly incredible! The sound is rich and influenced by the many ethnic groups which reside there.

Here's a Wiki article in case you'd like to read about the music of Mali:

en.wikipedia.org...

Otherwise, sit back and listen to some magical sounds straight from Africa.

Amadou et Mariam:

Tinariwen from the Tuareg tribe:

Salif Keita:

Rokia Traore:

Here's a Rokia in (mostly) English:

Ali Farka Toure:

Let me know which ones you enjoyed! I'd be curious to hear what you all think. Rokia is my personal favorite.

It's music worth your while

My favorite is je pense a toi, should be easy to guess why

Ali Farka Toure has a really good bluesy sound.

Tinariwen reminds me of native american music.

Oh the 4th video does not seem to work.

Hey, glad you took the time to listen!

Thanks for the reply

I'll try to fix the error.

btw-- I switched up the Tinariwen song.. not as Native American sounding as the last one I had up.. just in case anyone is wondering what Duke is talking about

So glad you stopped in to listen and comment! Yes, truth. I love it.

BTW-- for anyone interested, the Tuareg are a fascinating people! You may want to learn a bit about the tribe if you don't know. I saw them perform (Tinariwen) and they were amazing!

Love Rokia, reminds me of a young Billie Holidayish Nora Jones.
