That scenario was played out in "Foundation" by Isaac Asimov in the 1950's. Faking audio is not particularly new. Welcome to the "chain of custody" and the rules of forensic evidence. Detectives are up against this problem daily. Heirs and inheritance is another field where this is very important. Is that will "real"? That this sort of thing can be faked does not mitigate that the real stuff is out there it's just that the total evidence "package" is more than the evidence itself and includes quite a lot of meta-data (effectively data about the data.) It certainly complicates things, but it is not insurmountable.

its a cat and mouse game, sometimes the fakers are more cunning, smarter and more advanced, sometimes the forensic experts can detect without reasonable doubt that something is fake, all depends how much money, skills and knowledge is behind the two parties

No we don't have "Total awareness" and neither will we.
A few have woken up, it's been a good morning, not a perfect day.

Nevertheless, the real information is out there to be collected.

So the rich will be able to defend against falsified evidence but the common guy is # out of luck. As if anyone will spend a lot of time and money when the defending party is not worth much economically (like minimum wage) and/or hasn't got the right connections. Law and courts in the Netherlands are not right anyway but you only find that out by personal experience. There is just this huge elephant anyone can see if they dare to look, but nobody wants to and continue to believe in a pretty picture how everything is all peachy, not just in courts but also healthcare because otherwise action might be required or a lot of frustration might arise by being powerless to do anything about it anyway.
Speech technology is pretty far by the way: pitchfork.com...
So in the near future it'll be easier to create videos including speech and get rid of unwanted elements in society, or at least make sure they will not be able to influence anyone, probably their siblings as well once a family name is tainted.

This may be true but it is a premise that is pushing us to the edge a d maybe off the cliff.
Predictive analytics is creeping into everything. It may soon be a prevailing factor in whether you live or die, since insurance companies and CMS think of it as a useful tool in keeping health care cost under their control.

Not being able to use evidence in court has not stopped the law enforcement process. There are a thousand and one other ways they can use the information, and once you are in the database, regardless of how you got there, legally or illegally, you are in the database.

Its like a deal with the devil: NSA gets total awareness, total control (can plant fake digital evidence anywhere) but can't do anything with it cannot use it in courts anymore

It's because the "total awareness" isn't total awareness, it's a sham.
