Lets hope this ends peacefully.

Gotta say well done to the french police already. The whole area is cordoned and held by well armed police. The situation is under as much control as it can be at this moment.

The intervention brigade penetrated the travel agency #prisedotages # paris13

Google translated from french source on scene.
From the above twitter account it appears that the situation is now over as police are removing bulletproof vests.

Could be a disgruntled employee...don't think we need to jump to conclusions around terrorists..not sure why this would make world news unless they are trying to stir the pot on both sides of the terrorism isle.

I don't believe France would discuss news from Alabama if a guy took seven people hostage in a 7 eleven..I know this makes for more debate in the US to get both sides at each others throat and I don't recall terrorists taking hostages...bottom line if you are not in France this is not world news...just hype for the moment for the 24 hr news networks..

If it is a terrorist than I was wrong..

The guy is an armed robber allegedly, a robbery that has gone terribly wrong for him/her.

How's that Martial Law working out in France?

In some respects I agree with that.

Yet also let me remind you that a hostage situation isn't at all very common in Europe. As other members have pointed out, France is currently in a state of emergency due to terrorism and that any high level situation will come under the spotlight very quickly due to what has happened in Paris over the last few years

No we should not. Hopefully, he is just afraid that Le Pen is going to get elected and all he needs is a one way ticket to Trudeau's Canada to get him to stand down.

Honestly, I hope this can bve resolved without anyone getting hurt.

You can almost imagine the look on the ***tards face when he remembers he just took six hostages in a country that is currently in a state of emergency and has its hostage response team on high readiness and the top of it's game

I'm glad we can laugh about this and it isn't another tragedy, regardless of the motivation or situation one was averted today by the prowess of the French police.

A robber?

Why would an armed robber choose to rob a travel agency?

More likely a Muslim terrorist,

Correct me if I'm wrong, I've never worked with a travel agency before. Wouldn't the agencies take deposits? Especially if it was a rather expensive trip, say like; traveling to or from continent to continent?

Woah there, maybe it's because the travel agent's is used heavily by Asians who mainly use cash in their transactions.

If you read my source or those of saudi you would have know this.

Additionally the travel agent's have been held up several times before. Obviously if many of the people who go there to book holidays use cash, they will have lots of a heck of a lot of cash there at the end of a day.

According to the article, this travel agency had a primary clientele of southeast Asians who often pay in cash…
This is/was known and not the first time this agency has been robbed…

I'm all for calling out Islamic terror when it rears its head but based on initial accounts this doesn't appear to be an act of terror…
