It seems the progressive mainstream media is now trying to make claims that Trump is mentally unfit to be President and want to invoke the 25th amendment to impeach President-elect Donald Trump...

Amid widespread protests and worrying signs of dysfunction in the administration of President-elect Donald Trump, millions across the United States are likely wondering how, or if, it's possible to oust the billionaire from the White House before the 2020 presidential election. While there have long been talks of impeachment hearings, a favorite theory this week for removing Trump from power involves the 25th amendment to the Constitution.

The amendment was approved in 1967, pushed into existence in the wake of the stunning 1963 death of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in Dallas. The Constitution had never officially laid out a succession plan that detailed how, exactly, a vice-president should take power should a president no longer be able to carry out his or her duties. Up until the amendment, vice presidents effectively took over because of a precedent set by Vice President John Tyler in 1841, according to the National Constitution Center. The 25th amendment clearly spelled out that a vice president took over if a president died, resigned or, importantly, was removed from office.

The amendment opened the door for removal if a president was deemed to be unfit for office, different from an impeachment hearing that typically centers around investigating if a president acted illegally while in office.

There are two options to remove a mentally unfit president, which were helpfully laid out step-by-step by Fusion. The first option requires a majority of the president's cabinet — positions such as secretary of state and secretary of defense — joining together with the vice president to declare the president is unfit. The second option requires the vice president to convince a majority of the House of Representatives and the Senate to decide the president is unfit. Both chambers of Congress then submit a letter stating such, which removes the president from power.

Seriously people, he hasn't even been officially declared as President, but the left is already making this claim that he is mentally unfit because he doesn't tow left wing views?

What in the world...

Yeah, I know many ATS members would agree with this premise because you "disagree" with his views... But disagreement doesn't equal to "being mentally unfit"...

It seems obvious the left is getting desperate to make these claims and try to get Clinton in office which we know was seriously ill yet the left never used that to claim "she is physically unfit to be President"...

The desperation of the left over the presidency is astoundingly pathetic.

Did they ever try this with old Dubya?

Ridiculous. People would be better served by putting their time and energy into other areas that might actually help fix things.

Is there no end to the liberal whining????....

You lost get over and get a better candidate sorted for the next run at it, the ironic thing is if they wanted a Democrat in the Whitehouse then Sanders should have run and this whole topic would be a none argument..

You know damn well that's not why he is mentally unfit.

It's his pathological lying and narcissistic personality disorder.

so, they would rather have pence as president than trump? because that would be the result of their ridiculous scheme to have trump declared unfit,i guess they haven`t thought that far ahead though.

Like conservatives didn't try to accuse Obama of everything under the sun.

Muslim, communist or birther.

Take your pic.

Sucks when people turn the tables doesn't it.

Oh my, the diggers are been busy, plotting and planning to keep the dissenters fire up, hopeful and protesting.

Hillary is quiet when it comes to be in the front lines of the media, but my god she is working non stop with her minions to watering the seed of discontent.

Is not going to happen, Trump will be the next president and that is that

But hell is amusing how much crap the diggers seems to come out with.

I guess the recount attempts are not going to work as expected. Still they don't even get the fact that it will not be Hillary the one to take Trumps place if something happen to him.

Compared to any of our past presidents, Trump is a peach.

People forget about Bohemian Grove so quickly.

Freemasons as well...

I read that some within the government mulled over this with Reagan. I think they had a good point and a possible case to remove him. Not so with Trump. At least not yet. A lot of what he says is utterly insane, but as we have seen, he has already backtracked or reversed several of these positions before he has even taken office. He should be given a chance before there is talk of impeachment.

I submit that the people on the left that are raising such a ruckus are mentally unfit to make this challenge. Straight jackets all around.

are there any guidelines for this? who's to say what constitute unfit? will they have a psychological evaluation? who picks the psychologist?
what standards would have to be met?

and if they don't use psychological reasons for fitness, what others reasons for being determined unfit would they use?
some people see one persons views as being unfit where others don't.

that's just a few things i see that could cause a problem.
seems like some guidelines should have been set up before long ago for this. to just up and do it now would show a clear prejudice against him.

i don't see it happening.

Obviously both options require the co-operation of the Republicans themselves, in the form of the Vice-President in conjunction with EITHER Trump's own appointed Cabinet OR his fellow-Republicans in Congress.
How likely is this, really (in the absence of a genuine mental breakdown)?
Nobody even thought of trying that on Nixon, if only for the obvious reason that his own party would not have taken part.
This is even more implausible than expecting Republicans to be "faithless electors" in Hillary's favour.

Like I said on another thread, is so much what a political figure can say, but is a lot less what they can actually accomplish.

So why haven't these same people been pushing for removal of our current POTUS? Lied to the people to manipulate them. Feels all his failures have been because of others. Seems to fit the bill.

Here we go again... AS IF Hillary is any different?

This is insane these ideas about impeaching a guy before he's even swore the oath. TRULY INSANE.
