You're telling the public that you believe in open discussion and that everybody's point of view is important.

Should the president be talking to people who have been involved in the wrong side of law enforcement?
Yes, especially when the event was about trying to keep people on the right side.

How about some death metal bands lol.
Seriously can you imagine the left and media if trump actually did that.

Somehow Trump doesn't strike me as a Cannibal Corpse fan.

Although I'd love to hear "Entrails ripped from a virgin's c*** " at the inauguration.

This is the first time I've agreed with you! lol I pretty much loath two types of music, country and rap. And while I don't like the messages, it's the sound of them that I dislike so much. Eh whatever, just thought it was funny I usually disagree with you, but this one I agree on.

I'm rather left on many issues,
but...
I really don't like rap at all???

why are conservatives always trying to lump us all into this huge groups so they can make such ridiculous statements about us???

RAP is basically a type of "folk music", stories from the street, from life.

Yes, some of it is very hard core, but they're telling their story.

It's not a life I've lived, so I don't relate to the hard core stuff. That doesn't make it wrong.

It's just not my story.

hey, no one has to defend their choice of music here, to each their own. used to like rock, now just can't get into that anymore. so, what can I say. to each their own...
but, according to the op, hey I am star struck when it comes to rap????
far from it...
just getting tired of the all the generalizations being slapped on large portions of the population simply because they don't believe exactly the same as those slapping the labels on them.
more than likely the politicians are playing music that will draw in that segment of the population that they are hoping will gain them the most votes...
after all they are politicians after all... if you listen to the people actually making the music though, most of them really don't appreciate it when their songs are just swiped and played at the conventions without their permission, or financial transaction for the privilege.

I agree with you.

Anything to slam "the other guy".

And I like electronica. All those techno sounds. My daughter thinks I'm crazy.

Agreed, Uncle Ted thought it was OK to sit in his own waste so he didn't have to give up slapping these greasy guitar licks down and go to Nam. What he fails to realize is someone else went in his place.

Oh well, someone's son may have been killed, but at least we have cat scratch fever, right?

Hit me up when right-wingers stop dragging out Ted Nugent.

Disagree Braw, if I have a dog, and it is good 99% of the time, I will not have him around my kids.
Common is good, what 55% of the time, he (his music) isn't around my kids, or in the White House

Common does have some good songs. But the ones where he uses hate speech, gun play, demeaning women, etc. means he should be in the White House. If you want to crank the bass and thump it out go for it. The POTUS isn't something to be cheapened with such poor subject matter and short sighted in crowd thinking.

I present to you a short sample of lyrics from a random Common song---Heide hoe---A wonderful rap about disrespecting women and domestic violence. Kinda not WH material.

Whatup B***H? I'm Petey Wheatstraw
And you don't stop, with the heidi heidi hoe
Hi hoe, or bye hoe, if you're lookin for a sucker
(What are you?) I'm just another motherf****er
Pucker your lips, do flips like Mary Lou
Just because I fu***d you doesn't mean that I'ma marry you
Bury you, I will do, after, I bill you
Kill you, hoe, cause your s**t smells like mildew
Pe-ew, think you need some soap and a rag
Or better yet Black, Flag, you scallywag
Tag, I didn't mean to diss dis... hoe butt
But you need to stay such, do not touch
Much disrespect goes out to you
And your parents, too, for havin you
Haven't you been introduced to a douche
I guess you said f***k footloose, and got p***yloose
No juice, you shoulda dried up, like a prune-a
Mister mechanic this place needs a tune up
For the pink cadillac cause it's block is off
And have more use, than a public park
for recreation, givin up the body is a hobby

yea dude I am sorry but Common is a great artist with some really wonderful tunes. Some of the subject matter may be controversial

If you haven't noticed during and since the election, the left is very racist, sexist, and violent so it is no secret whey they flock to these kind of "artists".

Agreed, I would not of had Easy-e at the WH. Easy was there not to entertain, he was there as part of a luncheon, I having a hard time finding out why.
Here is what he said about the visit, Bush and Easy were not Friends and did not admire each other.

Eazy did, however, explaining in an interview: "How the f**k can I be a Republican when I got a song called 'F**k tha Police'? I ain't s**t—ain't a Republican or Democrat. I didn't even vote. My vote ain't going to help! I don't give a f**k who's the president," and later, explaining in song: "So, you can kiss my black a$$/F**k the White House, it ain't my house/So, you can burn the mothaf***a down for all I care/Cause T-shirts and khakis is all I wear."

Obama has repeatedly had these artists to the WH over the last eight years. I hope Trump won't have the racist-hate speech spewing and demoralizing rappers in the WH. If he does I will be the first to comment on it.

*sigh* and most of the "rap" music people in here are up in arms about is also polished pop crap made by, and pushed by rich white people. I'll refrain from going down the rabbit hole conspiracy about it being pushed on purpose to encourage drug use and criminal behavior in black communities

And yea, McGraw is pop-country. I have some David Allen Coe around someplace. One of the songs is pretty offensive, uses the N word quite a bit.

Please do go down that rabbit hole...isn't that the purpose of this site? I would read and probably comment. As far as DAC, some of his stuff is offensive, racist, pornographic, sexist, and many other things. His bottom line has suffered greatly from it too, as it should. That doesn't change the fact that real Country Music has had to rebrand itself with monikers such as Red Dirt and Americana.

Add to that race agitators, tax evaders, and hate preachers like Al Sharpton.

And what ever felon the Clinton Foundation sent there dozens of times to meet privately with Obama.

He will go down in history as the most divisive and worst President the Us has ever had.

All this coming from someone who once voted for him.

I guess its more interesting then White Supremacy.

I know, diversity and equal treatment for all is too much for some.

Oh stop with that s***. There are far more compelling individuals, from either side of the aisle, to invite.

If anything, they're invited to keep the black vote tied to the democrat plantation.

democrat plantation

democrat plantation

Bling bling! Gold or Iron, its still a chain. These you put on yourself willingly.

I regret it every single day.

I thought he could help bring the nation together.

In reality he pushed the nation further apart and brought untold number of racists out of the woodwork and helped to permit them to preach their hate openly.
