I purchased this on a whim and really enjoyed it!

It's based on a novel by Arthur C. Clarke.

Childhood's End is a 1953 science fiction novel by the British author Arthur C. Clarke. The story follows the peaceful alien invasion[1] of Earth by the mysterious Overlords, whose arrival begins decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture.

Impressive list!

My favorite is The Road.

Do you have a personal top 10/20/50 maybe?

Cheers

Apostle (2018)

Watching now. Good stuff so far.

Guy from the modern world gets on a train to go find his kidnapped sister, to infiltrate some religious cult who has taken her for ransom. He ends up in a sort of medieval take on a Amish cult (complete with actual pikesman). The trip to get there could be likened to going back in time in a subtle time machine sense, although no scifi here. A genuine dystopian society he finds himself in here, the sort that the Black Death plague forgot. Dark place, gritty folks, suspense abounds, complete with gripping if not spooky soundtrack and grueling cinematography... its hard to gauge if its a horror or a thriller only half way in (especially since its Halloween in twisted town at the moment)...

Starring Dan Stevens (LEGION Series) as the protagonist, and Michael Sheen (TRON: Legacy, Underworld) as the cult leader.
