Well, if he did, we must be fair in this discussion--even he was a shell of what the original Repulican looked like.

I get it--things evolve, including politicians and their parties, but I think that it's time to jettison the R and D and cleanse America of their tired attempts at running the country (and pretending that they're different groups with different goals).

This is what blows my mind: this election was a referendum against power structures. The liberal backers tried their damndest to put Sanders on their ticket. He looks more like a New Deal Democrat than a socialist to me, but they are still almost the same thing economically, only differing socially.

Meanwhile, the RNC allowed their voters to blow their party up with Trump. Who got to face the only candidate on Earth he could beat, other than maybe Kim Jong Un.

But in the end: everyone voted for the D and R. The referendum against power structure was a pulled punch, leaving America with one of the least qualified among us to lead, only because he was the most qualified in the race.

To be fair, we have to point out that the 3rd parties really put their back into finding the worst candidates for their platforms. So im not sure who would have been an alternative.

Which is the actual disease causing this illness: we have made the election into something that sane and smart people are not willing to drag themselves and their families through. So no matter how much of a referendum on power that we want to have, the end result is the same sycophantic ego driven sociopaths getting elected.

Based on exit polling and a review of the final ballots, the Democratic party has nothing to worry about. Clinton damn near took every state in voters 18-29. The future is bright.

Yeah, but I'm not sure who is the cart and who is the horse--I would argue that it is the parties who are turning the elections into something that we can't stomach, as they, in the end, decide who runs. The media plays its part, too, it scaring people into still voting D or R, so they can't lose blame as well.

But I, apparently like you, still want to put the onus of apathy on the American voter, because with so many eligible voters who choose not to vote, along with a large number who do vote doing so based on ignorance as to whom (or what) they're casting their vote, it's no wonder that our elections stink to hell.

In some peoples' collective eye, Trump may be the least-qualified to have gotten the job, but between him and Clinton, I'd put my money on him any day. He's a wildcard--we don't really know what to expect--but with Clinton, I knew what to expect, and I was scared as hell that we would get it. I'm glad that we didn't, even if who did get the job isn't exactly the best option either.

Im one of those that doesn't vote. For 2 reasons:

- what they did to Perot proved to me, right out of high school, that it was all rigged
- there isn't a candidate that inspires me enough for me to actually vote for them. And i won't simply vote against someone.

So i voted once in the presidential election so far: when i was 19. That first experience ruined it for me.

I can be called a lot of things, but "dumb" isn't usually one of them. And while im wrong, im not usually wrong. Its taken 30 years for the rest of the nation to catch on, and even then people are still lending support to parties instead of excising the cancer. But maybe we will catch on soon. Strauss-Howe indicates that we are going through an Awakening cycle, and things seem to match up:

If the state of calif leaves the US there would have be a total gun ban in calif due to many rural areas not wanting to leave the US because the new COUNTRY OF CALIF would have no military to protect themselves from the republician parts of the state.

If Hillary actually won every state like that, she would have actually won the election.

I console myself in thoughts of the other outcome. Hillary was just a flat-out-evil I couldn't vote for ... and couldn't not go out and vote against.

Look at how the press treats anyone they decide not to like, to say nothing about opposition research by the other parties.

Elections are no longer about policy or ideas, they are instead about who said what thing that can be spun to my advantage even if they said it decades ago.

Everyone runs on and against lies. What decent person wants to deal with that personally let alone put their family through it?

This headline is the polar opposite of what IS.

The republican party has fallen apart, that's why Trump is President. They hate each other.

As for the democrats, think how many votes Trump got, then add two million more. That's how many Clinton got.

This may be the last we'll see from the not so Grand ole party for a long, long time. They are in tatters, or we wouldn't have who we have as President elect. His election was giving the party the middle finger, as has been said. They hate themselves.
