USGS would probably be getting a lot of their data via JMA in this case.

If you go to JMA's Earthquake Information page, you can get pretty good data on the latest quakes. In English.

Muchos Gracias!

I wasn't having a fun time navigating that site before - not enough coffee in this system over here!

Tsunami warning areas have now been downgraded to tsunami advisory.

And Tsunami advisory areas has now been lifted completely.

But they still advise everyone to stay away from the coastlines.

They said it is a cold and rainy day.

Oh, mm,hmm the 'they sayers'.

So water doesn't slosh from those tanks during a 7.0?

What do the "they sayers" say about that?

You know what water in a pool does during a magnitude 7? It sloshes over...

I think the important thing to consider is that there was a similar sized quake a few days before the mega quake in 2011, which was also about a week after an M7+ in New Zealand.

Thankfully things seem to have calmed down now, if it follows the same pattern we could be looking at another mega quake in the coming days. Especially since this quake appears to be on the same fault as the Fukushima event.

Yep, warnings downgraded to advisories. For all intents and purposes, the threat has passed (barring large aftershocks.) Very thankful for that!

Peace.

It will take time... but the aftershocks look like they are going to extend to the plate boundary and would indicate a much stronger earthquake to come.

After the configuration in the skies in Virgo on 20 and 21 Nov 2016, I wondered if the biblical "birthpangs of the end of days" would begin. I ponder ...

Well, I don't know but when they had a reporter standing on the scene where the evacuees were standing it sure did look wet to me ... like a cold, blustery, drizzly wintry day where everything just drips cold water.

So, sure the tanks might have sloshed, but the ground was also likely already wet just like everything else.

I cannot provide any possible solution, I just wish people well and hope it's just doom porn as often seen on ATS.

as soon as something like this happens its going to be end of days, end of days will happen but a 7+ earthquake aint going to be it, infact the asteroid that suppose to have killed dinasours even not going to be it, we,r still alive even after that strike, world will end but will take something we can,t even imagine for that to happen.

Do you have any idea as to what those towers contain?

I thought not.

I think it's fair to say that most people wouldn't have reason to know what's inside those towers. I don't like this one bit. I have such a feeling of dread right now that it's making me nauseous. What do you think the chance is of one of those structures losing integrity?

Thanks for the weather report. That was standing water at the tank farm, the tanks surely sloshed during a 7.

Maybe even cracked and are leaking to some degree. Like everything else there, the ground under the plants, fragile fuel pools, the last thing they need is another 7.0 rattling their already fragile infrastructure.

I brought the info because the shots in the video of the plant complex itself are sparse, the video feed was cutoff during the Tsunami and surely the video will eventually be edited to remove even the little bit that got thru.

They can tell me all day how safe it is and members here can echo that sentiment. Sort of stringing along with the official story. I never buy that stuff, Ketsuko-san.

One would hope that they remain standing a good long time and due to the fact that they are an important part of the venting system for the plant, they would be engineered to withstand a great deal.

However, the extremely high radiation environment rapidly increasws the rate at which deterioration takes place.

I would esitmate that the design life probably has been significantly lessened; maybe by as much as half.

But that's just a W.A.G.
