Indiana Department of Homeland Security reports house fire

horrible horrible story but why homeland security? just hapend last night and homeland is already comenting on it?

LORA, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say four children are dead and their mother and two law enforcement officers are injured following an early-morning house fire in Indiana.


The Department of Homeland Security and the Indiana fire marshal are investigating.

Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby tells WLFI-TV (http://(link tracking not allowed)/2gaAKaj ) that Deputy Drew Yoder was flown by helicopter to a hospital burn unit in Fort Wayne, about 80 miles away. The sheriff says the next 48 to 72 hours will be crucial for Yoder's recovery.

A northern Indiana sheriff says a deputy who responded to a house fire that killed four children was airlifted to a hospital after suffering severe smoke inhalation and burns to his hands and forehead.


The station reports that Flora police officer Josh Disinger was also injured while responding to the fire in the town about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis. He's in stable condition at a Lafayette hospital.

Any # of things could have involved the home, residents, items found, activities...anything.

Would DHS normally comment on such an incident? Could it be due to the report of officers injured?

Anyway hats offf to the two officers who obviously tried their best and made a valiant effort to save those poor children. May they have quick recoveries.

I would imagine that in this case the Department of Homeland Security means the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) who routinely investigate fires that have explosive and/or accelerants seemingly used. The BATFE is under the auspices of Homeland Security.

So most likely it would be arson, ie, on purpose?
