The Peace of God to all that belong to the Light,
Dear Readers,
On a day like today in 1903 a piece of paper that is infamous as no other ever written, considered as a forgery for two nations, and later fully
condemned by the entire international community, was signed by a French impresario who abusively transferred sovereignty of land to United States that
was originally territory of Colombia and then of Panama that became Independent through a revolution sponsored by the Teddy Roosevelt Administration.
Colombian Congress previously had rejected such a deal since it was clearly against their sovereignty and so they were victims of the last chapter of
the so called Big Stick policy. Today Latin Americans are with reason worried and alert that the next American Administration does not revive such an
abusive treatment to other nations.

United States returned to Panama full sovereignty of the Canal Zone in 2000 as part of the Carter-Torrijos Agreement of 1978, the only treaty that now
is considered valid by the two parts, with also approval of Colombia. Colombia retained full sovereignty over the maritime zones to the north and
south of the isthmus and the islands there located.

A great lesson of how wrong was the big stick policy, how responsible and abusive it was is to realize that If scamming is inadmissible in between
honest people it is even worst among nations. To revive that dark period of 'diplomacy' easily can damage dramatically the good name of a country, its
international reputation for ever. We are sure this is not the "Greatness" the American people voted for in the General election.

Unfortunately there is no happy end in all the mess that The Big stick policy created around the stability of the middle Caribbean . A very strategic
portion of coast almost as large as the one of Florida that was the first independent country of the continent, Moskitia, and that was for about three
centuries a British and Colombian Protectorates became gradually isolated due to the expansion of American influence in the zone, and in 1895 invaded
and annexed by Nicaraguan troops, backed from Washington, arguing that it was good enough reason that Panama Canal project was being built by French
Engineers, although the sovereignty was absolutely Colombian.
As a consequence of this forced cession of land that became difficult to revert when Panama was also seceded from Colombia, in 1928 Nicaragua signed
and also ratified through full approval of their congress, as well as the Colombian one, a treaty of maritime borders with Colombia recognizing for
that nation jurisdiction over all the sea located to the east of the 82nd meridian.
That illegal transfer of sovereignty plus the also dishonest way Managua has used it has originated the current dispute in between Colombia and
Nicaragua in the Caribbean. The Nicaraguan artificial claim of waters control is messing the entire International legal framework in the subject,
since the ICJ was unable to satisfy the parts with a so much controversial verdict.

Bolivia has followed Nicaragua audacity into send another artificial complaint the same ICJ in The hague, willing to bypass a treaty already signed
and ratified by both countries more than a century ago, as it is the one of 1928 Esguerra-Barcenas in between Nicaragua and Colombia, this time to
take coast from Chile.

Colombia and Chile are the two most reliable allies, trully friend nations, that the United States have in the South American Continent, a
neighborhood that has been pretty hostile along two decades to American diplomacy. Both nations are paying terrible negative consequences for a
situation that can be traced back toward a wrong and visible anti ethical way to handle international policies from a former US administration.
Now, that is not all, USA also can pay the consequences of the chain of events that Big stick policy triggered. If Nicaragua can take effective
control of the waters they ambition they could block completely the Panama Canal from any international use. The worst part of all this mess is that
the associate of business, who is actually willing to build an alternative canal in Nicaragua, which they are going to profit from, is the People's
Republic of China.
