I'm going with the written word. Once developed mankind began the accumulation of knowledge that lead to all else. No longer was word of mouth relied upon to pass knowledge from generation to generation, It could be written down and passed on for all times.

Love and light,

Wupy

Dunno if it's been said already, but it HAS to be math. Math is the basis for just about everything.

True, everything that we do can be said to be atributed to math, the world around us is all about math, but is math an invention

Very true...

I guess in the spirit of the thread, it is not. But as far as human achievment, math is the basis for language, architecture, engineering...just about everything.

Without the invention of languages we wouldn't be able to have this conversation on any level.

I'd have to agree with the people that said language (both written and spoken) and math. These are both inventions/discoveries that without them, we would have never created anything.

As far as physical inventions, I'd have to say the wheel, and later electronics. The wheel most certainly, because without that, we would have never gotten even remotely close to medieval technology, let alone current tech. Electronics has accounted for virtually every discovery and invention we've made that hasn't required the wheel (and the wheel made most inventions in electronics possible).

Combinations of both the wheel and electronics have allowed for incredible discovery - internal combustion engines, cars, spacecraft, robotics, etc. The list goes on....

Don'y forget clothing without it those races that lived in seasonal climates would be dead in one year from exposure lol. They wouldn't even get to invent a language or a wheel

PORN, made me spit up my water.

Seems the most popular ones are Mathmatics and Lanuage, go ask high school students if they think that these are good inventions.
