He is an idiot too, communists persecuted priests and religious figures in all instances of revolution. I guess he likes suicide then.

Do you honestly think the government is?

But really ... tell me again why a private charity like PP is anymore or less worthy of receiving grants of my tax dollars than a group like Salvation Army or Catholic Charities?

He's not referring to "Communists", he's referring to communism. Theres a difference there that is important.

Lenin, Stalin, and Mao are not communists. They were tyrants using a cloak of populist hysteria to achieve mediocrity. I don't think communism can work among current humans. So I doubt we have any real examples to point to.

Just like referring to the US as an example of capitalism is inaccurate.

So being Christian means trumping others in a plight for financial wealth with limited regulation in accord with human rights and environmental concern is what you're saying....

It will never work, and not just because it needs a certain mentality, goodwill and discipline from the ones who pursue it. It's because inequality will always exist in some way or shape, and because leaders will always have the power even if they preach and position themselves otherwise. One thing communism is good at, is education, if you take away the politicial brainwashing involved, you realize the general education is quite quite good.

Any human institution is corruptible, by nature of human greed. You have made the point in previous threads that somehow private charities can solve social issues, which they have failed at. If they were adequate then government programs would be wholly unnecessary. Government programs are not immune to corruption, but it is up to the citizenry to uphold and maintain lawfulness.

I wouldn't know that, I don't make the rules. I would imagine that secular charities are preferred over religious ones, due to the secular nature of the government. Trying to convert people they help may not sit well with all...

So your premise is that a private organization of people is corruptible, but a public organization of people is not?

Have you actually read the works of Marx? I doubt it. Few people who describe what "communism" supposedly is have.

Is that what socialism and communism means? Really? is that why people in Venezuela are going hungry?... Is that why every communist regime on the whole planet has been authoritarian and dictatorial?... Because these regimes have never shown to have those qualities you seem to claim they possess...

No, and I don't need to. Communism doesn't work. Even if you had the perfect convergence of people to implement it, humans are mortal and it wouldn't last for another generation.

Simple as that.

I did read. You said that the citizenry could keep the public organization in check and lawful, therefore not corrupted.

Except that public organization also controls the laws, and determines what is legal and not...

And influences the education of the children, telling them who to trust...

And has a compliant media to report when it is acting legal or not...

I could go on, but I think my point is made.
