Athens Riots During Obama's Last Visit As President

There is a big riot going on now in Athens, Greece, protesting President Obama's visit. Link to live stream:

YouTube commenters are saying that it is related to Syria and the refugee question. I haven't seen it reported in the American press yet.





Some camera shots are deceptive and appear to show the police much closer to the rioters, but they are really out of rock throwing range (and there are a lot of rocks being thrown).

About 7,000 people, among them many hooded protesters and members of the Communist-affiliated group PAME, marched through the streets of central Athens holding banners reading "Unwanted!"

Wonder why commies don't want a communist leader visiting their country? If I believed conservative news Obama is the biggest communist this world has ever seen so what gives?

Police rushed the rioters, most fled, then some threw flash/light bombs are going off.

It's coming up to 3:00AM in Athens right now.

The police seem to rush the rioters then back off for a few...repeat.
If I was the police I would be weary of all the molitovs being thrown about.

There is a large group of police deployed in the intersection in the foreground. They are out of sight of the rioters, around the corner. The rioters keep advancing toward them from the street ahead. It looks like the police want to get them into the open area of the intersection before they pounce. I think they want to scatter them in all directions rather than have a pitched battle in a narrow street.

The police just charged into the narrow street to drive the protesters back from their barricade. Then they stopped again.

I would try and funnel smaller groups away then apprehend, trying to push them into a dense crowd will lead to big trouble. Being cornered and all that.
