One of Trumps first announcements was that the new administration would be investing tax dollars in domestic infrastructure. The tough talk concerning foreign Tariff policy could effect relations with Asia but Historically that doesn't effect the "defcon alert" for decades. Economic diplomacy is policed by the world markets.

Yeah their carrier had to be towed and this is not the first time it occurred. As for "stomping ass" they had a fighter jet crash shortly after taking off from the carrier. Russia had enough military jets in country and didnt need the one from the carrier. This was Russia's attempt at a show of force to the west and it failed spectacularly.

What ? No , it is not. It was designed for the public as well. No secret there. Could they move it w/o public knowledge ? I guess,

Yeah that site has NOTHING to do with the US military alert condition. The Defcon status is not public information.

If you took 2 seconds and actually looked at the website you linked to you might have seen this under about -

as I said, and your source confirms, the US Defcon level is classified information and the website you are using is not affiliated with the US Military.

Your right it isn't classified however it isn't published for a reason. One base can have a different threat level than another. For example the 82 nd may be at 2 meaning if a threat pops up they need to deploy immediately. While say fort shafter may be at 5.( the best place you could ever be stationed it was awesome.) The threat level varies not only in the US but other countries as well depending on what is going on. There is no one threat level for all the military like you see in the movies. If the President moves the threat level it activates the basses that were already on high alert. Having been stationed at the 82nd and 101st these two are always on 2 or 3 and trade off.

No , DEFCON is Strategic and worldwide. . Non-strategic other level types are tactical or local . Those are different , but affect DEFCON levels as well.
Thats where folks are incorrect. DEFCON levels are mainly for NORAD (now Space Command).

The OP is incorrect. The state of DEFCON has been 5 since , I think , Obama was elected. Perhaps they confuse this with the "Doomsday Clock"

It is COMMON KNOWLEDGE. Again, no one makes it a secret. The DEFCON level dropped when Obama was sworn in and won the Nobel Peace Prize. And I would be the ABSOLUTE LAST person to admit that , if I didnt know it was true.No matter what Fox or Alex tells ya....

Partial retraction. The website I linked was the first one in a Google search . This website fell under a trap of a hoaxer and had set DEFCON to 3 due to this. They were forced to put up a disclaimer . But this was the start of the hoax going round on major websites that the DEFCON Level was raised to 3 during the "missile movements of Russia.. It has remained at 5 for years.

Defcon status is classified.
There are various levels of Defcon/Threatcon and it is possible to have elements of the armed forces at a differing defcon than other units. Example -

Cuban Missile Crisis

During the Cuban Missile Crisis on October 22, 1962, the U.S. Armed Forces (with the exception of United States Army Europe (USAREUR)) were ordered to DEFCON 3. On October 24, Strategic Air Command (SAC) was ordered to DEFCON 2, while the rest of the U.S. Armed Forces remained at DEFCON 3. SAC remained at DEFCON 2 until November 15.[8]

The website talking about the Defcon level is not based on anything other than the opinion of those running the site. They even state they arent part of the system and that defcon status is indeed classified.

What exactly are you having issues with understanding all of this?
