Obamacare or ACA is only another tax on the American Worker, did you really think they would remove it ???

Yes, he has said this.

The problem arises with the math, at least with the pre-existing conditions--without the individual mandate to purchase health insurance, the system will crumble.

Maybe that's Trump's idea all along--expose it for the plan toward single-payer healthcare that it really is, but then be forced to repeal it because it doesn't work, and we can go back to actually being able to afford health insurance and choose the doctors that we want. Hell, event he freedom to opt out of health insurance without getting "taxed" over that decision would be nice for many people.

I'll be interested to see where this goes in the coming year or so.

99.9% of politicians dont live up to their campaign promises...

Why is suddenly this one special.. seriously?

If all he fixes is the VA Ill be ecstatic... if he manages to curtail the runaway price increases Ill be over the moon.. (stupid not to have controls to limit the increases each year)

Harry Reid didn't run for re-election. He'll be in a nursing home soon enough. (Not joking. He's been showing signs of oncoming dementia, like having angry outbursts for no apparent reason.)

You don't need the rest of Obamacare to keep these 2 items.
It is the rest of Obamacare that is the problem.

First of all, yes Trump has been saying for a long time that he would keep pre-existing condition coverage. He has talked about a catastrophic coverage for that, kind of like Medicaid.

We already had a rule about keeping kids on the plan before Obamacare. The age was just a few years younger. So they could have upped that without creating the whole Obamacare mess.
I don't really see a need for that, but Trump might be including that as an olive branch. He is a negotiator.

Trump's plans, which he has laid out in detail, are not going to be like Obamacare.
He plans to eliminate regulations that give Insurance companies monopolies in each state.
When they can sell across all states, things will be more competitive, which naturally reduces costs.
He wants to move insurance to HSAs.

Honestly I don't get it how could Trump not see that any/all parts of ACA are bad and evil and must be done away with. Just because there is the 'appearance' of it genuinely helping people its important for all us conservatives to remember that ANYTHING completed by Obama and the previous administration is an affront to good honest moral christian life and values. If trump doesn't immediately take away Obamacare from those 20+ million folks who recently got coverage we'll just have to vote him out for a real conservative that understands that the correct and true christian moral imperative is to let those less fortunate suffer as shortly as possible with quick deaths (something that healthcare forestalls). Remember Christ says to let your neighbors take care of themselves, and keep your own money to yourself who can enjoy it the most righteously. Also I'm pretty sure Christ definitely didn't want anyone to pay taxes (Likely just a simple slip of the tongue about giving Caesar his due).

So, in summation, if Donald isn't going to actually build the wall (after getting Mexico to pony up the cash), or repeal the entirety of evil Obummercare, or finally repeal Gay marriage/abortions, or nuke North Korea finally, or actually set up deportation squads to go door to door and find all these murderous illegals then what the heck did we get him in office for?

That was exactly the right amount of snarky this thread needed! Applause!

Once again - the part about letting kids on their parents plan until 26 is not new, and is not "because of" Obamacare.
It's been a requirement for a long time, but the age was 23.
It could have been put up to 26 without the rest of Obamacare coming along with it.

And Obamacare was not needed for the pre-existing condition part either.
The problem is that the rest of the mandated coverage, fines, and everything else that came along with it.
The reason they did that is to get everyone else to pay for those people with severe health problems.
That's not a fair way to do it.
Why should everyone else's rates go up to pay for this?
Why should young healthy people need to pay alot for a plan when all they need is catastrophic coverage?

"Why should young healthy people need insurance?" is a strawman only ever used by old people.

Young people get diseases too.
Young people need checkups to live to a long healthy age too.
Young people get hurt too.
Young people need vaccines.
Young people possibly need sexual education, I've always found the Doctor the best alternate option to the education system.

There are countless reasons a young person would need insurance. I have a friend who is 25, who recently fell down a hill Mountain boarding and was in a coma for 6 months with no insurance.

That argument is clearly designed for age based discrimination, something that has only got worse and worse for this generation. It's the kind of thinking that would kill an infant with a cold. Heartless.

This is correct. There arewere 2 issues with insurance. One is pre-existing conditions. For example, is it ethical to give my friend who is in the coma insurance while in a coma, or stick him with a larger bill when he wakes up? Obamacare paved through things like this.

The second issue is more predominant than the first, and also not even close to as addressed as as the first. The second issue is that despite the nature of most 'monopoly'* insurance doesn't actually WORK unless it's a single entity or a multi-beneficiary conglomerate. People were expecting private insurance to get liquidated, or subsidized, or something- anything, with Obamacare as some kind of 'flagship' in the movement, but literally none of that happened. Private insurance just again manipulated its way through the whole system.

*That part about the monopoly has a lot to do with the rates they charge for coverage. Private insurance has a lot of application outside of the mainstream application.

Everyone is used to Government breaking down things. Legally forcing a conglomerate is how you remove subsidy fraud, and insurance has a 'backwards' way of operating. Competition only makes things worse from it's fiscal perspective to have equal coverage.

Obama is probably still on his soap-box at this moment saying if more of the uninsured people signed up for coverage, not only would the rates change, it would force conglomerate at the risk of private insurers going out of business. The "dream" is everyone paying for it, so it's actually 'affordable'.

The 26 year old thing is only about one thing.......money. Its bizz not anyones big heart.

I think it's more ego than heart, but Trump really does like providing things. I doubt he's going to screw people on health care, he wants people to go to the doctor and silently say a prayer thanking Trump for making it possible.

Because that's what insurance is.

There are other systems where you don't have to do those things, but they're not insurance. People asked the government for health insurance.
