You know it was a time when I hated the popular vote, and the electoral voters, I was illiterate about its importance, now that I understand what it means, I have to say that I agree with it.

I vote every election by candidate, so I flip flop a lot, but is one thing for sure I have my fair share of supporting candidates that do not win.

I so don't care who won popular vote as that is not what we go by.

Also women are the majority so anytime you men want to be governed by feminist causes feel welcome to push for the popular vote instead. And as a woman I would previously have said that's irrelevent, the nation is what matters, but apparently it's not, and apparently our genders are utterly polarized, thanks to the last decade of social media in particular. Also Hillary herself said that men just don't understand as much about "jobs and families" as women do, so you know, you guys just aren't really qualified to vote for yourself anyway. Got a friend in Cali that told me Trump supporters knew there was no way he, or any Republican would carry that state, so most of them stay home every election. I would assume the numbers would change is it went by popular vote, but until then, Cali is a gimme for the dems, so the Republicans stay home. Same as NY. And if not for those two states, Trump would blow Clinton away with the popular vote.

Right now yes, but over the history of California, the State has voted 23 times Republican, 18 times Democrat, and 1 time other.
States can and do change political affiliation over time, which is another good reason to keep the Electoral College.

ACLU/etc. probably would challenge that, saying it would dissuade people from voting if they had unpaid traffic tickets or child support or anything that made them not want the government to know where they were.

Re: the guns issue: Guns would not have been a reason to vote for Trump but they are a 100% reason to NOT vote for Hillary, that's for certain. Not only for her efforts but the supreme court nom.
