DA, I've always been curious about this. Maybe I would understand this better. What is "the "obamacare" aspect of the ACA". Thanks.

Fair play.. Your. Hopes/analysis. Sound good on all points.. Its naive on my part but I was expecting/hoping after the rhetoric, that when he won he would come straight out with it. He ran the campaign on a "look folks im not beholding to any of these, im one of you" .. So I was "hoping" on announcement he would keep it GoIn " I won it, Im indicting Hilary, these usual suspects are gone, and 4/5/6 other things he was looking to do.. Instead we get what? Congrats to Hilary, conciliatory meetings with Obama? Potential cabinet based on the usual insiders.. He has displayed nothing that a typical insider wouldn't display.
I get HES not in there yet so yes it's a preemptive rant.. , and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, But still... U get where I'm coming from. a reply to: In4ormant

I do. I just think he has to be strategic about the execution of things. He does have to look out for the well being of us all. He can't make policies or change that doesn't benefit all Americans. That would be ridiculous.

I think people want a nuclear bomb on topics when he doesn't have to go that route to fulfill his promises.

Want hillary in jail? Put a special prosecutor over ALL campaign and finance discretions. You'll get her along with others. Everyone benefits.

Build a wall? Well there already is one. Make it better. Enforce it better. No one is in favor of ILLEGAL immigration. Stop ILLEGAL immigration and we all win.

Destroy ISIS? Doesn't have to be just us. Repair relationships with Russia and both of us take them out. Everybody wins.

He can still deliver, just not in the scorched earth kind of way.

Agreed, mentioned that a while ago, and it doesn't interfere with personal freedom, people are still free to make life choices as they wish.

B-b-but, Socialism!

Yes, I understand, nobody round here uses the word socialism, don't even think about it much...it's a bogeyman word used by some people in far off lands about us in the UK for instance, while the UK is a capitalist system like most countries nowadays, it's not perfect, nothing is, but in the main it works, but only as long as people want it to work...for everybody.

Nope. Nor Hilary for jail. Nor bombing Isis. I' know he's not in yet, and it takes time to do stuff IF Ur GoIn to do it.. But he's already back peddling on ALL OF these.. Thsts what's annoying.. Don't say give him a chance.. HE is the one changing his stance on these issues.. That he won on! a reply to: TheKnightofDoom

You know, MOM, I think that Trumpa is just now finding out about The Butterfly Effect. Wasn't evident to him while he was campaigning.

So, he finds out he actually won, actually goes to the White House, actually talks seriously with a sitting POTUS..... haha something I told my son to do before he thought about going into a certain field, sit down seriously with someone in the field and have a talk about what it's really like..... and then it dawns on him that HE'S the biggest butterfly, and what he would do has major implications beyond either his personal life or his business.

He better switch to wearing brown pants.

Private Prison stocks are soaring! Gun stocks are plummeting!

Private prison stocks soared on the news of a Trump victory on Wednesday.

Industry shares had cratered in August when the Justice Department said it would stop using these types of penitentiaries and encouraged other public agencies to do the same out of concern for inmate safety.

Hillary Clinton had also planned to uphold the policy. But Trump, who made cracking down on crime a centerpiece of his campaign, has vowed to continue with these contracts.

"I do think we can do a lot of privatizations and private prisons," he told MSNBC's Chris Matthews in March. "It seems to work a lot better." mashable.com...

I agree, and that's kinda my point.. He won that election on verbose statements that would never happen and yet no one called him on it, he won't do it, and no one will call him on it. All elected officials run a campaign on minor issues that can be brushed under the carpet or manipulated one way or the other " we're going to improve personal income, were going to lower crime, we're going to lower taxes" .. All of these can be manipulated to show improvement based on the numbers. " im putting Hillary in jail, im stopping Muslims coming into the country, im building a wall" .. These are stone cold facts that ppl can see in 6 mths "you didn't do that". Im not faulting trump as a president, im just saying he will demonstrably be shown as not delivering on anything he said he will do. , therefor he's same as usual, be on the golf course while those that do... Do.
Course.. I could be wrong! a reply to: In4ormant

It would be disappointing. We'll see what happens. He would see most of his support evaporate overnight.

I don't know what you mean about "you guys" .. I've no dog in this hunt. I don't know what's going to work/not work? Are you assuming I'm making comment to move the 300odd million masses of America to do something based on my 1 line of comment on ATS? Could do.
See the post, it's not about rallying the troops, it's simply about pointing out the fact he made comments (im not even going to hold him as in campaign promises) that he is already back peddling on- nothing more - nothing less. a reply to: agenda51

It is probably a better option for Trump in the regard that no matter how ugly things get during the amendment process, by not removing it altogether, it will always be President Obama's baby and where the blame will always fall. Trump can change it up as much as he wants and still come away clean this way.

Well well, this is certainly an interesting twist. It seems that Trump's meeting with Obama went well!

Donald Trump has said that he might not repeal Obamacare, perhaps his biggest campaign promise.

The President-elect performed the apparent U-turn after his meeting with Barack Obama at the White House this week, he has said.

Mr Trump is going to look at "amending" the Affordable Care Act, rather than completely repealing it, he told the Wall Street Journal.

I'm wondering it Trump may be playing his populist game again?

I wonder how many of his supporters will go along with this?

Makes sense to review it first unless you have a plan to replace it fixing it sounds better

No he won't.

His supporters are cult like with an almost emotional/quasi sexual/religious attachment to him and make excuses for his flip flop and blame in on Obama, the lefties or something. It's an established conservative pattern. Why do you think it's gonna change.

Apparently his mission was to get elected then chump out his devoted followers to join the DC elite.

Man of the people....flopped on Clinton, nice nice with Obama, ACA in question, what's next?

I'm glad I haven't thrown away my "I told you SO" banner...
