Many of us remember the online casino Paddy Power paying our early for people who bet on Hillary. It gets even crazier.

And I said it had to have been a stunt because bookies typically don't pay early for this reason.

Three weeks ago, bookmaker Paddy Power paid out £800,000 in winnings to punters who had backed Hillary Clinton to be the next US president, only now to be left with a bill for £4m to pay clients who had backed Donald Trump.

“We’re in the business of making predictions and decided to put our neck on the line by paying out early on Hillary Clinton, but boy did we get it wrong,” a Paddy Power spokesman said.

I've been wondering what Paddy Power was going to do. Are they going to pay up, or just go out of business? Serves them right either way; it's a beautiful thing when that sort of arrogance causes someone to fall flat on their face

My guess is that the first layout they did wasn't their money. No point to pay early in an election anything could happen. I think they got the money from someone else for the publicity stunt. Though that's just speculation, I bet no one predicted this or will help in the money for his win

Go out of business? £4M is chump change for them.

Ah, OK. I have no idea how big an outfit Paddy Power is.

Why would they have paid out before the election actually happened. That sounds like some flakey gambling joint. I think they are trying to bluff.

888 offered a deal for Trump at 16-1 (normally 4-1 but x4 for the deal).

16-1!
