LadyV a temporary solution is to host your image through Image Shack. It's a free service and works well. I use it all the time.

Or if you don't want to sign up on something like image shack, just send it to me and I'll host it for you

You don't need to sign-up when you use Image Shack. The link I provided takes you directly to the page where you upload your images.

I have photos hosted at Photo Bucket...do I have to pay points again to do it this way?

Avatars don’t cost any points. You may be thinking of the “mini profile” background image.
