Do you know who is responsible for keeping up the racism lie? Those who won't stop calling people racist.

Unless you haven't noticed, human beings tend to have feelings of both like and dislike. While this may be news to you, we have likes and dislikes about many things. Foods, drinks, colors, styles of cars, types of music, flooring tiles and pretty much everything else. You name it...someone likes it and someone doesn't. Some people like things so extremely they call it love, and some people dislike things so much they call it hate. Some of these feelings are...well...just feelings. Something you can't control Most people would agree that a pile of dog crap in their mouth is disliked and no matter what you do...that feeling won't change. Others likes and dislikes are learned through experience. Sometimes but only ever so rarely are we taught likes and dislikes that we don't eventually change to our personal feelings.

Are there whites that don't like or hate blacks? Yup. Always will be. Are there blacks that dislike or hate whites? You got it...Yup and always will be. What I find interesting is the "holier than thou" that think they have the right to decide which likes and dislikes are ok and which aren't. What give you the right to say what like or dislike is valid or not??? Who appointed you right and the law???

If a black child is born and every white person they meet screws them over, why aren't they allowed to dislike or hate white people? It is only logical that they do. It is part of nature and survival and being safe. Your experience often dictates what you like and don't and you would be an idiot to not learn from experience. Sorry...maybe not an idiot, just a fool.

Once we all realize that some people like us, some dislike us, some hate us and some love us...and get the Hell over this "you must love everyone" foolish crap and the sooner we stop pointing at each other and telling other what they are allowed to and not allowed to like...the sooner we may discover something. Maybe if you don't point at me...call me names and yell at me...telling me what I can and can't like...maybe I won't have to decide I don't like YOU.

Maybe peace exists when you STOP calling names, pointing and hating others...for hating others. This election should have shown this to everyone. A "holier than thou" liberal who constantly yells that it is wrong to hate black people (for example), turns around and starts yelling about how much they hate Trump (for example). Hate is hate. And if you hate someone for hating someone else...you are still a hater.

This is pure Reichstag bullcrap. The Socialists are losing and borrowing from those they look up to for max propaganda value.

I think most sensible people who have seen how the Democrats have behaved through all the leaks will draw the same conclusion.

I don't think people realize how much racism still exists in certain areas of America. I've grown up seeing it firsthand, so things like this really don't surprise me. Come spend some time in the south, live there, and hear what people say and believe behind closed doors.

People are acting like this is a new problem, but it isn't. People like this (the extreme authoritarian alt-right) have always existed. The only reason it seems like we are seeing more of them now is because Trump lured them out of hiding and made them feel like it was safe to be more vocal.

Knowing that this is a very small subset of people, people much like myself, who like to discuss topics, challenge each other with their opinions, looking for answers for themselves while hoping to help people find some of their own, I really believe that people get so caught up in being right that it becomes anything but productive.

I really enjoy ATS as well as many other sites where people contribute the vast majority of the content. I am probably a 100% reader, statistically, so I am getting away from what I normally do, just read. Today, I just felt like throwing out some of my opinions, and well, seeing how people respond. I could have probably picked any story on this site, but this one seemed the easiest to describe a trend that most of you probably already see on a daily basis.

The title of the story, "Black Church burned in honor of TRUMP". Before I even read the post, I see that there is an emphasis on Black Church and an over emphasis on TRUMP. So I go in having an idea what the OP is trying to get across before even looking. Which is probably a good writing style, it made me look.

So I go through 15 pages of people mostly just railing against each other to trying to prove that they are right about this or that. What are we doing people? For heavens sake, it has to be for nothing more than pure entertainment, that is my only conclusion?

I am not fooling myself into thinking that we can live in this world where everyone gets along, and who would want that anyway, but I really think that we can work towards being civil. And if we want to start closing the divides we see in just about everything, there needs to be some common changes.

For starters, how can we get to a point where this article reads, "Church burned, what a senseless crime." I know this is a reach, but if we want our children to learn that we are all people, we need to start, at some point, not having to have things categorized by race. They want us to continue to have "Hispanics for Trump" and Black Churches and silly things like Bill Clinton being our first black president. I mean seriously? When someone is brought up where everything is distinguished by race, then how do we ever expect things to ever change?

Now, it also amazes me how people are always trying to "connect the dots", like everything is a CSI episode. You want to know why racists support Trump, because that's what all the people who do not like him call him! If we cannot simply get past the idea that if we hold leaders responsible for the actions of their supporters, then we will never, ever, navigate these choppy waters. And before someone says it, do not begin lecturing on how a leaders actions make people act certain ways because we live in a society where people who are in a position to mold leaders a certain way ( i.e. Media ), they then have the ability to unfairly sway peoples minds one way or the other. People who commit crimes, whatever they do, are responsible for those crimes. Unless they were specifically told, instructed, paid by someone, they are solely responsible. Even if those responsible in this case stated they "Did this for TRUMP" you should not hold him responsible because that line of thinking allows us to be manipulated very easily.

So, what is this article really about? To get people to think Trump is bad. The OP clearly supports Hillary and that's OK, it's almost how it should be. And I could have easily picked a post that was the exact opposite, trying to make Hillary look bad. I strongly urge people to objectively look at what each candidate has done poorly and well in their lives. We are talking about electing a person who essentially has the ability to destroy this great country.

So, in light of having an opinion, and not trying to fall into that grey area where people try and appear that they are all understanding and we all need to get along and agree, I will end with my feeling on this election and who I will support, because no one should be afraid of expressing their support for someone. Nor should anyone so adamantly never change their opinion just because.

Trump
Cons:
Power Hungry
Obnoxious
No political experience.
Needs to show that losing is sometimes better than winning. His aggressive demeanor hopefully has a point where compromise is possible.

Pros:
No political experience. Yes, I have that in both pro and con.
Contrary to all the press about his bankruptcies, he is a very successful business person.
He does not need to line his pockets with more money. His egotistical self would probably want more people to like him ( the american people in the masses ) than have an inner circle of rich elitists.
He understands trade.
He does love this country.

Hillary
Cons:
Power Hungry.
Completely self serving. I do not say that lightly.
Global elitist.
At the heart of political corruption in this country.
She has been in politics 40 years, I have no other way of saying that she has not accomplished much. Here is a link to her own website of her top 9 accomplishments. I am sorry, this is not a very good resume for 40 years and I would argue that some of these 9 are over stated. ( hope I am not breaking any posting rules by adding a link ) www.hillaryclinton.com...

Pros:
Has many years in politics. That has to count for something.
Strong and a little ruthless. Both are needed in leaders, but its just where those characteristics are focused that are important.

I will be voting for Trump unless something changes in the next few days. And yes, I could change my mind. But based on what I know to this point, we need to stop the course this country is on. And the division that has been stoked over the past 8 years, we desperately need to try another approach. Hillary has been "fighting" for the little people for a very long time, along with many other liberals. The truth is that its not working. There has to come a time when we start holding our elected officials responsible. If Trump wins, he WILL have no choice but to be accountable, to both those who do not believe in him, as well as those that do. The vast majority of Trump supporters will not continue to support him if does not put America and its Citizens first.

I am so sorry for the long post, it has gone a little off topic, but I guess I just had some pent up points I wanted to make. I will go back to just reading for another year or two now.
By all means, I am all ears.

LOL...a new problem! Safe to be more vocal? Did you miss the Tea Party and how the establishment tried to get them under control, call them every name in the book ect.

Born in Mississippi 66 years ago. I have an aunt who will not step foot in black cemeteries. I like visiting the old south cemeteries when I go for a visit. These are the people who have been making national decisions for all of us because of gerrymandering legislative districts.

With all due respect that an elder deserves;
I think that may only be true for you and your individual experience at a specific place and time amongst a specific demographic of people.

I am 28 and am amongst those who will take the reigns from your generation. I too have lived in south for my entire adult life. i am open with my jewish heritage too,and my famiy up north are bleeding heart latino-american liberals .

When i moved back down here [ETA:i spent most of my teen years in the NJ/NYC area] i quickly discovered that SC was NOTHING like i was told. In fact, people were surprisingly liberal by modern standards, and it didnt really matter where you were [ b] the vocal and open racists are the minority opinion to begin with, it seems

That is my own observation though.

Interestingly enough, most of my black friends have never experienced frequent racism. When it was frequent, it came from people who werent in any real position of power. Mostly, it is isolated incidents with drunk retards and snotty clerks who themselves are counterintuitively and unironically racist towards just about everyone, despite being POC themselves.

Given that south carolina with an 80-90% white population ROUTINELY elects POC to the state legislature, local and gubernetorial positions, i would say that racism, while still an issue, is nowhere near as sinister or widespread as it is made out to be by the Left wing. Maybe it is different out in your neck of the woods, but in the deep south and across most of the nation things have most certainly progressed.

One thing that i noticed when living up north was that both white and black people were openly racist towards eachother and behind closed doors. Down here, in post 2008 SC, its pretty rare for people to be openly racist or even passively racist. At least as far as my own experiences and handfuls of others go.

Does any of this mean racism doesn't exist or isnt an issue ? No.

IMO It just means the truth is way more complex than anyone wants to admit.

I hope you are right. I left Mississippi when I was 16 in the sixties because the stork accidentally dropped me there.

I would like to hope so. In a bizzare way i agree with both sides of this issue. I know for a fact that contemporary instances of individual and institutional racism both exist and are purposefully magnified and supplemented with both synthetic and organic incidents.

In my own experience: for every racist in the charleston area there are at least 12 guys calling him an idiot, and two calmly explaining why they are awful people. Most often these people are white. After the Emmanuel AME shooting, EVERYONE came together. There were dudes with confederate flags going off about how it was an attack on religion while dropping money into donation boxes for the families. I kid you not.

Things are very complex indeed Ma'am.

With all that in mind i really can't see this as being anything other than a fabricated incident or some teen pranksters acting on an ideological whim.

Brainwashed teenagers are just as dangerous as any other terrorist. They used fire, not just graffiti.
