2015 MetroJet crash: internal high energy event

Investigators looking into the October 31 2015 crash of a MetroJet A321 over Egypt have located where the destruction of the aircraft began. They also disclosed that the aircraft skin suffered a high energy event, from inside the aircraft, going out.

All 224 people on board the aircraft were killed when it exploded shortly after taking off from Sharm el-sheik bound for St Petersburg. As a result of the event, the aircraft suffered an explosive decompression.

So probable bomb, not a missile. Didn't they have a video purportedly showing a missile attack?

There was a video, supposedly released by ISIS, showing a missile attack on the MetroJet flight. It was fake. IIRC it was video from a previous event reused.

This got me thinking.

We've had lithium battery explosions lately. If it wasn't a bomb. Maybe it was a battery.

Previous battery events have only started fires. It would have had to be a string of batteries all going off at once to do that IMO.

If there was a cargo of those batteries, it could cause an explosion and pressure pulse in a runaway fire situation.
I've no idea how long something like that would take. This plane had only left as far as I can see, not that it may, or not be pertinent.
