My husband went through detox 8 years ago and it scared him so much that he hasn't touched a drink since. His life was hell and he also used drinking as his escape for over 40 years. Now that he is sober, he is paying physically and mentally and emotionally for a lifetime of abuse. Getting sober is extremely tough on a body. But staying sober is tough on the soul AND the body. After detox, he sat down and wrote a personal letter to everyone he loved that gave up on him throughout his life. That included his kids. No one believed that he detoxed (and nearly died doing so). It took a long time of "walkin the line" before those people would give him another chance. Thankfully, he has reconnected with most of his family. I admire you for giving it a go. I hope you hang in there and accomplish this thing that only you can do. You look young enough to not suffer as much as he has. Better now than later. I'll keep you in my prayers.
